Day 31 - 12/31/09:
Things are looking better across the board. The nute burn sucked, but lesson learned (seem to be a few of those on this first go :)) and hopefully that's behind me. PH levels are good and the plants have all responded with some healthy growth... Now just want to make sure I don't nute burn again (the damage you see was only 1/4 teaspoon dilluted into 3 gallons, which was about 45 ppm + the PH issues), so I'm starting again very slowly (starting at about 1/16th teaspoon for now).
seems like your plants are a bit behind, from what i know of hydro you should be running like atleast 350-400 ppm by 31 days old. looks like they are a little pale green, is that a lighting or camera thing, or are they really that color? if they are really that pale looks like they could use some more nutes to me. not sure about that cause i grow in soil but you should def check it out or ask some one who grows with hydro.

You're right... They are behind, but I've had a few problems which definitely stunted growth. If they were bigger, I'd give them more nutes...I nute burned 2, 1 I think was shocked during transfers (the droopy kush) and then I broke my PH meter and all plants were off when I finally got the replacement meter.

Things *appear* to be back on track, but this next week should tell a lot. I am hoping to see significant growth.

what happened man? how the plants doing?
They are doing well. I need to take clones (should have a week+ ago) and then I'll switch to 12/12 a week later. Roots are getting ridiculous (but all white).

Unfortunately, I broke my camera charger. I'll take pics and update when I get my new phone.

glad to hear they are still alive.

Yeah, my bad... Been super busy/lazy.

Anyway, the end result of the 4 plants was:
Blue Hash: Died... my inexperience combined with breaking the pH meter was too much to recover from. Shame because it was easily the fastest growing at the start.
2 x Kandy Kush: Both turned out looking awesome... completely covered with crystals, etc. Got about half a mason jar after drying one that wasn't very healthy (had some pH trouble before flowering) and 2 packed mason jars of dense bud for the other.
Hash Plant Haze: Had to harvest on the earlier side and didn't get to do a full flush (pump died, root rot was developing). Anyway, got 2 mason jars off that one too. Based what's left and what's been used (weighed as used), I would say it yielded at least 1.5 ounces.

The hash plant haze was much looser buds and cloudy trichs (very few amber) no surprise, it had a heady pleasant high... good for daytime/doing stuff.
The kandy kush isn't done curing yet, but so far so good :). I've tried out a few small nugs and it is STRONG and a good mix of head/body. They are tight, dense buds covered with trichomes. When you grind up a nug, the whole floor of my house smells. Very pleased so far, but I think my re-veg attempt failed... so if I want to grow it again, I'll have to get more seeds.

Overall, the yield appears to be more than what I was expecting (guesstimate based on volume vs what's been used (weighed), and accounting for the denser kandy nugs I would guess around 5 ounces). Considering the early problems I had and what I learned to be inefficiencies in my setup, I am very happy with the quality and quantity yielded.

However, I won't be able to do round 2 for a while. My grow is completely legal (and was secret), but not everyone in my life is a fan...

I'll post pics of the dried outcome later this week.

sorry to bump such an old thread but i am just starting four seeds, paper towel into rockwool in an aerobucket. surprised they all sprouted overnight, transplanted next day, took a couple days to shed the kernel and open the cotyledons. Looking very good so far. used some res clear and clone tek just for the very light nute content to support them until i start feeding a seedling light nute. I am the brokest grower i know and i built all my own aerobuckets, very easy and very nice if i do say so myself, and use the cheapest nutes i can find, ANJJ. i plan on taking some cuttings asap and going into the neoprene pucks with these, I want a media free true aero grow. Plus i am looking for a mother or two and am in no hurry this time.

my last grow i got frustrated because i couldn't get seeds to pop then in a fit of aggravation i started a whole bunch of seeds, over a dozen and to my chagrin they all sprouted and i had nowhere near enough room for that kind of grow. moved em all outside and ended up with 80% females and a couple of casualties. never took a cutting. never got a mother and i think i missed a real good opportunity. I got the seeds from mjseeds canada and was not happy. this bunch is from bonza. I love bonza but i know nothing of their genetics or quality. i got a smorgasbord of types, brands, and companies. I started the cheapest ones for now experimenting. I have grown in soil or soilless mix until now. i have been wanting to switch to aero for a long time and just haven't been able to make it happen. it is now and so i started with the cheap seeds to work on my technique. I have been reading, researching, watching youtube vids, everything i can think of to help me succeed at least to some degree.

does anyone know of a way to go directly from a seed into a puck? bypassing having to put it into a medium such as rockwool, then maybe later into hydroton or something for support. i am going that route so that when it grows enough i can take a cutting and the puck will support it without damaging it.

my little guys are just about a week old now and i think i am getting ready to make an ultralight nute solution, like 1/4 of the suggested strength for seedlings. I also have them on 24/0 and have just read here to cut back a little after they're a week or two old.

lot's of good info in this thread. I wish there were more aero dedicated threads where people have been really successful and discuss their methods and techniques.

thanks to all the contributors to this thread.
