400W DIY Tent Journal - Multiple Strains, Perpetual Harvest

Welcome Everyone! Feel free to post comments or questions in my thread! I'm not an experienced grower so if you see something MENTION IT! Sorry for starting multiple journals, but this is the setup I finally settled on.





Here's my setup:

• 3' X 3' X 7' DIY Grow Tent
• 400W HPS Horticulture Bulb with CoolTube (HTG)
• Fox Farm 3-pack - Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom
• 250cfm duct fan for ventilation thru DIY carbon filter
• 500cfm duct fan comes on with HPS for high powered ventilation in-line with 250 mentioned above
• Optional A/C if necassary (temps are good for now)

Seeds:

• Violator Kush (Fem)
• Blue Mystic
• Power Skunk
• Durban Poision (Fem)
• Ice
• Alaskan Ice (Fem)
• Jock Horror

I plan on using a SCROG for some plants, but i might try a few plants SOG if I find a good strain (Blue Mystic) and even Low-Stress Training. I think the SCROG will be the best bet though, but I like what LST does too.

With the 3' X 3' floor space in the tent (1 plant per sq ft, 9 total) I plan to alternate harvests of 4 and 5 plants each month. I have a separate 3' X 3' X 2' Veg room underneath the Flower area in the Tent for seedlings and clones (eventually).

For the first harvest I planted 6 bagseeds to hopefully get 3-4 females. These are 10 days old now (from sprout). I just switched to 12/12 to weed out the males immediately, & I don't want them getting too big since I don't know the strain. Better to be safe and flower now than to pull early cuz their too big for the tent.

So 2-3 weeks from now I should be able pull the males, and have 3 of 9 spots full.

I have 4 Blue Mystics and 2 Power Skunks that are germing to fill the remaining 6 spots in flower. 2-3 weeks later I'll pull the males and have 6 of 9 spots full.

Then in 3 weeks I'll germ 3 feminized Violator Kush to fill the last 3 spots.

I should end up with 3 Bagseed, 2 Blue Mystic, 1 Power Skunk, and 3 Violator Kush. Sounds Fuckin Tastey!

I'll have 1-2 oz for each plant for a total of 9-18 oz. every 2 months or 4.5-9 oz a month. I'll be a busy guy...

I bought all my soil from HD, last night 2 of my pots were infected.

One had little bugs crawling all around in it, and the other had what I thought was spiders at first because it looked like webs with little white spots in it covering part of the soil. Later it looked more like mold or fungus... The one with bugs was a Blue Mystic, I transplanted it into fresh soil, it had germinated and hopefully it makes it. The second one was Power Skunk, and it had germed too, I transplanted this as well into fresh soil.

I'm guessing mold because I have been keeping the topsoil very wet while the seeds germed. I have no idea what the bugs were, they were green, 4x longer than wide, about the size of aphids but different shape.

Whats a good pesticide/fugicide to use?

All my soil was shit, so I bought more and am trying SuperSoil for now. I've transplanted every fucking plant I have numerous times and have lost a few, but I don't see anymore bugs or mold or fungus finally.

1 Power Skunk didn't make it.... the other hasn't broken ground since the transplant

I weeded out 2 of the bagseed and 3 of 4 are doing well, tho still small for their age.

All 4 Blue Mystics are alive and kickin', almost lost 2.

For fun, I put in a Jock Horror and an Ice and they both just sprouted.

I'm not going to waste anymore good seeds untill I don't have any more problems. I've been lucky in that the only casualties have been bagseed and free skunk.

I never went to 12/12, I've been 18/6 with HPS since I finished the tent, but will switch in a week or two...

I still need mylar and to finish my carbon filter.

use hydrogen peroxide for fungus you know the stuff you put on cuts. i use neem oil for the bugs but it really stinks and is kind of expensive. you could put a few drops of soap, vegetable oil, and alcohol in a gallon of warm water and spray it on them works for most insects. try to let top of the soil dry out a little.the roots need oxygen so it doesnt hurt to let the top half inch of soil dry out. also you should leave your light on like 22hrs a day, your plants will grow alot faster. good luck, sounds like it should be interesting. pictures??

The bugs were just in the soil. The plants are little babies stil, so they aren't big enough to have bugs on them yet. I'm guessing the same methods could be used on the soil (neem, soap, vegatable oil, alcohol)?

How much h2o2 do you mix with your water for treatment? I've heard you can drink the stuff right out of the bottle... Would using a small amount with every watering help the roots w/ oxygen and fight fungus? Since I had the fungus or mold I transplanted everything into new soil. & I've been keeping the new stuff a lot drier, only watering once a week, and misting the plants like 3 times a day.

I lost my 'Ice' plant after I was bragging about it yesterday. It suffered from the transplant, and I broke the plant on accident trying to help it. FUCK!!!! I only had one seed that I traded for. Someone close to me has one a few days older than mine (I can still put it in my journal for all you porn lovers, myself included) He's got Ice & Jock Horror a week old, & an Alaskan Ice that might not germ, it's been holding out on us.

The 4 Blue Mystics and the Jock Horror look GREAT, I moved them all closer to the HPS, there about a foot away now. It looked like they were stretching a bit @ 2-3' from the HPS.

I know I need Mylar, this shit doesn't seem to burn the plants yet but I'm keeping a close eye on them.

The thermometer in the back has a shity rh meter on it. I have a digital rf atomic clock telling me my room temp and my tent temp. The A/C is a window mount right next to the tent.

The PVC on the outside of the tent is my attempt at sucking air from the veg room underneath without letting in light... they don't flow enough air for my 500cfm exhaust. It keeps sucking the flap in, hence the tripled up duct tape on the flap.



Its going to get the damn job done...

No one's bashing me yet so thats good. I took the reflectors out of the pots because I didn't like them.

The weakest Blue Mystic might die on me. My youngest, had to do a C-section at birth, and well, no one was sure if we'd even get this far... Say a little prayer for my little baby BM4 guys.

She's dead.

I need to plant some more bagseed this weekend, I need about 10 more plants. Better make it 12-15 at my success rate. I'll take the best of the litter and put the rest up for adoption or just put them in a burlap sack with a big rock, tie it up and throw it in the river...

My plants are coming along nicely. I think they are tolerating the soil until I can get some FFOF.

I decided to plant some good seeds instead of just bagseed. I can afford for $40 worth of seeds to die...

So, we're going with my last 3 free Power Skunks, and my free FEM Durban Poison from Attittude, & 1 FEM Violator Kush. For a total of 5.

I'm trying to get some of each of the indica dominant strains I have for a SOG in my tent. I have Nirvana Blue Mystic and Barneys Farm Violator Kush filling that role now. I will eventually get Paradise Seeds White Berry & World of Seeds Strawberry Blue clones from my bro. 1 of each kind every two weeks, 16 plants total.

I have 3 sativas as well in Durban Poison, Jock Horror, and Power Skunk.

I just started to LST my big bagseed plant. I'm LSTing all the other sativas as well.

I was reading the thread on over-ripening buds and I want to try over-ripening on just 1 plant eventually. It be too cool to have some trippy acid-smoke!

Oh, my bro's Alaskan Ice that we thought wasn't going to germ finally did! Hopefully it makes it, its been about 14 days since it was first put in soil... it doesn't even have its helmet off yet.

The newest editions to my family have all germinated, and are sitting nicely under 1/4" of soil. I'm stoked!

The bagseed I'm growing is starting to smell very skunky, and same in my bro's grow room. I should have known that weed was skunk. It stunk up my whole house after just 1 dube. I've heard skunks are easy to grow, that would be nice.

looks good man nice setup. i wouldent use those reflectors you had on the soil because i covered mine with aluminum foil and it grew mold under there. should be interesting, you have a lot of different strains. how long are you gonna veg them?

Yeah, I ditched the reflectors. My kids didn't like 'em. Plus I'm paranoid about mold/fungus since the beginning of my grow wasn't so hot...

I'm going to veg until the Indica's are a foot tall or until the first LST'd sativa wraps all the way around the pot its in now. I'll transplant into 8.5" 2gal pots then flower. I was hoping to get some FFOF before the transplant. I should since I have so many wonderful strains, and I shouldn't be bullshitting around with soil from HD anyway.

The Jock Horror is really growing fast.

Bought some FFOF. need a little more than I bought. I'm stretching it thin at this point.

Started LST on my second biggest skunk.

Its been 2 whole days!

Cleaned up my tent a little, recieved my 10lbs of activated charcoal. Workin' on the filter this weekend.

Should have the mylar soon too.

I'm stoked about the Violator, I just traded one for a FEM Whiteberry and planted that bitch right away. I've got Blue Mystic, Jock Horror, Violator Kush, Whiteberry, Power Skunk, Durban Poison, and some Skunk Bagseed all growing right NOW! I'm in stoner heaven!
