Thanks for everybody's help, im gonna try and make my own cooltube reflector. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to mount the socket. I am about to go to home depot and see what I can find. I picked up a small dayton fan today at work that moves about as much air as my s&p. the dayton I got for free, it has a 4'' squirrel cage fan, but only has about a 2'' outlet. I am going to try using this for the light seperately with its own intake and exhaust.

Make sure your cab is as airtight as possible. Do not have any leaks in your doors & try lining the cab with some caulking. That way your fan is pulling air from your intakes and not from all over the leaks in the cab. And i hope you have a cooltube for that light.

It is airtight, except the holes on the bottom. The doors are sealed with weatherstripping and everything is caulked.

okay, I went to Walmart looking for the glass. I did find huricane glass but it was $15. There was 2 different ones, the first was straight glass, 8'' diameter and aproximately 14'' long or so. The other was 5.5'' diameter on both ends and kinda odd shaped with the same length. Neither of them sounded feasable.

So then I try Home De'pot. I hate that fucking store, I walked around aimlessly in circles for about an hr or maybe 2 and only found like 2 things I needed, but couldn't find a mogul socket, since I don't want to ruin my socket that I currently have, or glass.

So, I didn't get shit but managed to make it back with a ice cream cone, * ironic because its like -0 degrees outside with windchill and a joint.

I will try lowes and a hobby store, I hear the hobby store has glass that is suitable for like $6 or $8.

or I could get one on ebay aka bake a round pyrex for $20.

or I could buy one made by someone else for $60 or $70 which is sounding the best.

Sorry for rambling on, im just stoned

Okay, now that im not high anymore, I realize I have no money to buy a $100 cooltube reflector, when I can build the same thing for prob $30 or $40 with a reflector.

For people interested in building one, this is the best diy cooltube I could find:
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=101298

The only one that makes it clear to me how to mount the socket securely.

I will build my version tomorrow and hopefully find a camera and up pics.

When I say tomorrow I probably won't actually make till Saturday or Sunday.

actually i average around 74-78 degrees with lights on. ill post a link to my venting setup if you want.

all i am saying is that if you design a ventilation system using trial and error, you can get every last ounce of power out of a vent fan.

then again, i think the intake placement is the most important aspect at keeping temps low.
naw naw I believe you dude... i'm not mad or anything i'm glad you posted and said you disagree :) I just never had luck with a blower that low for exaust on 400 watts and up...
I would like to see your setup if you have a few pics ... thanks man :)

hope this helps someone. later mates

I got everything I need to make the cooltube & reflector. I only had to go to 5 different stores. I was almost done when my hurricane glass tube cracked on its own. I will go get another tube tomorrow, only $7 atleast, and finish. Everything else is ready and paint is currently drying.

Question: I got the wrong kind of paint Satin White instead of flat white. Does anyone know if this makes a big difference? After a few coats I plan to go back over it with one coat of flat white, which I have leftover.

I read that everything except flat has a clear coat over it which affects the reflectability .

I did do a dry run before it broke, and the glass was cool to the touch while it was running.

okay everybody, thanks for your support. I finally got my cooltube + reflector made!!! and it works like a champ. Temps are about 5 degrees higher than before, but I can definately live with that. As soon as I find my camera cable I will up the pics.

It turned out looking just like the link I posted earlier. The glass tube is cool to the touch, and my ladies look like their enjoying themselves.

Its been running for 20mins so far, and went from 74 to 78.
