400 watt MH cool tube

Ok so my bulbs came in today and I noticed that the MH bulb has a much wider diameter that the HPS.

Actually the diameter of the MH is 5"

Now I definitely plan to DIY a cool tube, because the premade ones are very expensive.

So where do you a find a glass tube with at least a 6" diameter that won't break your pocket

All the DIY cool tubes messages I have read talk about HPS.

What about MH 400 watt

ive actually found plexiglass style ones on ebay for...not too cheap -- but glass im not sure about.

and youre fine with the MH bulb -- its the concept of removing the heat, not amplifying the HPS output..you of course get into the pros and cons of MH and HPS, to which i side with HPS -- but regardless, the MH will function the same...

hope this helps

You can go to Michael's in the candle section and there is a glass tube thats pretty wide there. Maybe like 6 inches or so. Its only $7 and some change. Be careful because its not as thick as the pyrex ones and I broke one before I got it home. Than again.... I broke my first pyrex as well. lol

and check my sig for a simple cool tube design. I added an update to it a couple days ago, so you have 2 different ways to make it. Good Luck!

That is what you are doing retard.
No need for name calling

I spent 30 dollars for these MH bulbs, and plan to use them

If I run out and just buy a MH bulb with a smaller diameter, then the ones I bought are wasted.

I asked for advice as to where to find a cool tube that can fit these 5" diameter bulbs

I appreciate the link, but the bulbs won't fit in that one

I already have one bookmarked thats 6" diameter

Just trying to find a more inexpensive way to DIY
