400 watt is foot away ok

From what I've heard u can have the plant as close to the light as long as it doesn't burn. One foot seems rather close to me, being that my plant gets over heated from from my light being a little more than 3 feet away. Same wattage.

Just make sure you check the temp.. don't let it get any warmer than 92 degrees. If your leaves begin to droop down about an hour after you turn the light then it's probably to warm for the plant. Maybe move the light away further but if not a foot away is just fine.

I have been having trouble w/ my light maybe this can give u some more info.
