400 to 600

Wondering who has went from a 400W setup to 600W without changing ANYTHING ELSE in your setup?

Basically concerned with heat more than anything else.

Full on summer, midday, 130* temps, a/c running 90%, temps in flower room with lights on run around 80* right now with 400W.

How much more heat will the 600W produce?

Right now my 400W is about 7-8" above my tops. I know the 600W would have enough ass to get deeper and I have about 2 feet I can move the light up.

What do you guys think?

I had over 500w of t5 ho and my new 600w hps keeps my tent cooler. As long as you are already using a vent fan and a vented hood you should not see much of an i crease in temps at all. Get a new 600w dimmable ballast and a 600w bulb and you are ready to rock.

600 is more efficient so puts out less heat per watt than a 400. The only 400 I've run was mh, and my 600 hps runs coller than my 400 mh.

I have a 600 and 400, the 6 for flowering in a cool hood, in an open room with a walmart fan blowing. Temps are about 85 max. I keep about 8- 10 in away.

600 run hot so if you dont change your set up to keep temp good then just make some holes for fresh clean air to come in with a small fan blowing air around then you should be ok. But if your using a tent then watch out as with the 600 it could over heat an burn your girls... safety first brother.

So this is my flower setup.

4x4 room, 10" blowing in a/c air, 8" exhaust hooked up cool tube and a 4" exhausting out the top of the room.

Tops of my bud's are thick and tight, the bottom of my bud's are loose and airy.

I want the 600 to cure that. Since it does penatrate deeper.

Right now the 400 is about 6" above my tops and I'm starting to see heat damage, even though the room at canopy height is low 80s.

So I guess if the 600 is about the same for heat, then i could raise my light back up to 12" or so, reduce heat stress and get better light penatration.
