Nice plant you got there, ive read many places that once 60-80% of the white hairs turn brown its ready to harvest. Also if you leave the plants in total darkness for the last two days of its life it will think its dying and use up all its energy and produce more potency. It's only what I've read, haven't tried the darkness thing myself. Might just be an old wifie's tale, I dunno

Without the scope n being able to see the Trichomes it's hard to tell but from those picture I would go the two more weeks, I think they could produce some more THC. I'm only a beginner so don't take this too seriuosly, just a thought ;-)

ive researched and read up on harvesting and know all this info, but without a scope to check the trics it seems more like a guessing game...i dont want to harvest early.

i guess in 2 weeks we shall see where we are at and determine if it gets chopped.

for what its worth, i did the 48 hours in darkness before harvest on my first buds...they looked the same before and after, im guessing its just a myth.

most of the leaves are yellowing, and the tips of the leaves from the bud are tinted purple

her buds are starting to purple but the buds are hard to see through all the pistils

are you talking about the 2nd plant?
because it does have tons of hairs but the buds are really small..hope she finishes filling out well.
im not sure how long she will take to finish, but plan on going a few more weeks past the other girl since she appears to be more sativa..
im guessing itll be around day 70 to 80

im more asking about the one i call afghooie..i was guessing 8-10 weeks and wednesday will mark the beginning of the 9th week.
her calyxes appear to be getting larger, hairs about 50/50 white to brown, and the buds seem to be sucking up the nutes from the fan leaves turning them yellow. buds are glistening with trichomes.

i wish my scope would work:neutral:

That is looking so killer. Not sure when you should i use a scope they are like $10 at radio shack, get one!:cuss:

ive got one but no batteries and im strapped for cash pretty hard right now...got a ticket the other day ive got to pay before the end of the month.:twisted:

anyone else with a guess as to how much longer to give the afghooie?
 
Dam that sucks i would say once 90% of the hairs turn brownish red. I am strapped for cash too i know how you feel. :neutral:
 
i remembered my girl has a led light on her keys so i sniped the very last 2 popcorns that were under the canopy and whipped out the scope, hit the keychain flashlight and welcome to tric city

theyre about 60/40 milky to clear

maybe a few amber but i cant adjust the zoom or focus while shining the light so im not sure
 
question. when you scrog, do you HAVE to start vegging with the screen, or can you veg in a separate location, then put the screen(or chicken wire) in when you flower them , and be just as effective?
 
a lot of growers put the screen in once they go into flowering.
i dont know if one if more effective than another, this is my first scrog so i cant really compare.
you can also grow your plants out horizontally without a screen, just some old fashioned LST

anything you can do to spread your plants growth outwards instead of up so everything is getting the same light intensity will definitely help

no man..my fucking camera wont get in that tight.
and
my hands arent steady enough to get clear pics that close.
im going to keep playing with it and see if i can figure something out..like a homemade tripod or some shit.

but thats a nice pic youve got there
