Hello everybody, I'm a 40 yr old teacher that just started using marijuana (mostly edibles) to deal with job stress and decompress on the weekends. I'm coming here for community and Q&As.

I'd be curious to hear from any others that like fitness and working out. I need help dealing with the munchies effect. I've been at a steady weight for years and now have gained about 15 pounds in the past 6 months mostly from edible use but also from being in quarantine.

Thanks for hosting a place like this!

contrary to popular belief herb doesn't make u crave junk food. it does make us more aware of nutrient deficiency in our own bodies and since we are programmed to stuff our face w chips we do that. nothing wrong with eating when we are high, just make sure it's the right stuff ;) I do salted nuts for savory and fruits for my sweet.

but from my own experience if you really start to watch your food intake and make sure you are eating lots of nourishing whole foods you wont feel the cravings for junk food the same way.

weed + quarantine+ munchies = definitely weight gain welcome to club

weed 101

I won't lie I struggle w eating as a coping mechanism at times and the first half of lockdown I was in bad shape lol. took a hard decision in August and eliminated all the chips and cookies from my cabinets. replaced w fruits, nuts, granola. smoothies at breakfast, salads or leftovers at lunch and a decent dinner. im feeling better than I have in a long time and lost about 15 lbs. (I do make exceptions for the occasional homemade chocolate chip cookie. but I eat 1 or 2 now, not 12 lol).

I can agree with that partially, and I feel like the same thing applies in most of life. Helps to be clear headed when planning, but I enjoy smoking while I cook to help keep my focus and power thru the menial and repetitive tasks like chopping onions or washing dishes. I definitely don't want to cook at the end of a stressful day either way, especially if I have nothing planned. bc then my blood sugar just drops and I get hangry. but also have found that meal planning ahead of time reduces that stress, as well as the times I say fuck it and order takeout. which also reduces stress when I'm doing the bills at the end of the month lol.

definitely agree its not easy, takes time and planning for sure
