40 jars of flower and usually none with CBD

When I go to dispensaries, why are there 40 jars of flower on the wall and rarely with any CBD.
Of course they may carry one or two high CBD strains but that's a different thing.

How does it happen that most of the modern flower cultivars are all THC and no CBD?
Is this via selection by a breeder? If so, why would breeders do that?

This kind of weed doesn't do everything I need my weed to do. Seems like a bigger problem. Is it? Do you have an opinion on this?

Thanks for reading...

There's to many reasons to list. It's what most recreational consumers want is probably the biggest reason. Other reasons may be that THC rich strains has better medicinal effect in terms of pain management. Some may get better help with edibles and 11 hydroxy THC etc.

1:1 CBD rich strains is good for daytime use. Grow your own if you really want proper medicinal effects from Cannabis and that comes from eating fresh leaves and flowers in their natural acid form.

Been like that here for a few years now.
As soon as recreational was legal pretty much all the CBD rich stuff went away.
Not like there was a lot of choices before though. Maybe 4 or 5 options with more than 5% CBD.
THC content sells to the weed newb and occasional smoker.
Grow yer own!
been growing Harlequin for a few (approx. 10%cbd, 5% thc)
its an all day'r for me.

This is my highly cherished CBD Warlock from Serious Seeds.
F24C2A97-70AA-43C0-A796-FA549B3CA007.jpegFound her in my first big seed run a few years ago, and it’s some really special stuff. Made lots of seeds with her. It’s (Skunk 1 x Afghani) x Cannatonic. Good resistance to spider mites. Has the most unique, sticky, smelly resin that holds its smell and ‘oil’ for years with a good drying/curing tek, better than any other I’ve found out of ~250 seeds of a wide variety of strains.
Smells like purple berries (more like dates than blueberries), funky hashy earthiness, sweet and peppery potpourri, and definitely a skunky undertone. It induces yawning immediately and is incredible for pain, sleep, and anxiety; very grounding effects. Hope to keep her around for a long time.
I’ve got her crossed to: NL1, Sensi Star x RKS, Hunza Valley91, Booty (Bodhi), and maybe one or 2 more, can’t recall.

I don't go to dispensaries I grow my own, dispensaries are a waste of time and money they over charge you can grow better than what they offer with the right amount of skill research etc..

I wish I had posted a picture of the shelves of these dispensaries I visit. Imagine 40 jars with CBD <LOQ on the jars.

I yearn for the pre-2016 days in San Francisco when you could get flower with modest levels of CBD of anywhere from 0.3 - 1.3 %.

These days when I visit a dispensary it every flower is CBD <LOQ. That's what I find disappointing.

But honestly I like the direction this thread is going with the experiences with chemovars that are CBD dominate or CBD prevalent.

That warlock is impressive. I'd like to grow that.

Cheers!

Because all 40 of those jars are derived from OG, Glue, Cookies. Kids think high THC means potency. Kid chuckers chuck for high THC alone not understanding the entourage effect. Therefore most cannabis in dispos sucks and you don't find much variation.

There are many reliable breeders selling CBD seeds if you do some research.

Just heard The Potcast #76 Two of a Seed Kompany and he discusses cbd quite a bit.
