4 T5 Flourescents or a HPS 400w for vegging? Which would be better for a 4x4 grow?

already have a hps 400w. But was thinking bout getting 4 t5 flourescents for my next grow..will save me on power but willl it improve the grow? Any thoughts will do.

As long as you have enough lumens your good...My veg room is set up with t12's which are not as good as t5's........check em out............about 18000 lumens(adding another 6000 lumens soon) ..........Less power consumption less heat......

Would this be better than a 400w MH for vegging? And same question for HPS.
4x4 grow room with about 2 metres height.

It says they are 5000 lumens per bulb total of 20000 lumens.
Is that enough if i want to be growing 10 plants at a time?

How old are those seedlings?

Yes but how many plants do you gro at a time and does it grow slower of faster than MH and HPS.
You know what lighting im lookin at buying im just asking for a bit of comparison..

MH and HPS are always good in my opinion, never really grown with t5s. but from what ive heard t5s arent all that great compared to hps and mh

The 4 fluorescents don't compare to one 400 watt mh of course....400 watt mh kicks out 36,000 lumens,,,,,,the 4 fluorescents kick out 20,000 which is about the equivalent of a 250 mh........and mh is better than hps for vegging only.....,,,,,,,depending on strain and method of growing is how you determine how many plants you can grow example Sea of green(SOG) or Screen of Green(SCROG) methods are used when you don't have lots of vertical space.....My tent is 4x4x6.5 feet I am going to flower 14 plants in SOG under one 430 Super Agro and fluorescent mixed but my veg room has fluorescent lights only.The mh is the way to go if you have the money and heat is no issue but the fluorescent t5 are not far behind if compared equally in lumens(for vegging)........It really depends on you the only thing if you go fluorescent get the light real close to your plants so they don't stretch and I can't answer your question about the plants growing faster with either lights because there are many other variables that affect plant growth.......,,,,,,,Hope this answers your question

i use a T5 for my mothers and clones works very well just to maintain Veg but of course i have a 400w HPS which is the bomb for everything but i flower with my hps.

Kool so im better off getting a MH that 4 T5's because i want to grow about 10 plants at a time its jus 400w MH takes up more electricity but thats not really an issue anyway fanks for da help any more opinions wud b kool.

My first two grows were both under t5 setups. The ladies turned out nice but I felt they could have been bigger, I only got about 2ounces a plant with the cfls after 3 months. Second time around I had about 3oz per plant, more knowledge second time 'round I suppose, but for my next grow I'm gonna veg 8 plants on a 400watt MH and flower on a 400watt HPS. Of course I may throw in some cfls for some extra light if they end up gettin' bushy.
I don't know a ton but that's just a sugggestion.

So now the hps question..Is the 4 t5 flourescents better than a 400w hps for vegging? I know that an MH is better but not sure because at the moment i only have a 400w hps for both vegging and flowering.
What would you do for a 4x4 2 metre height for 10 plants would you use a hps for vegging or the T5 flourescents i showed??
