I recently decided to purchase my first setup. Its a low end system and comes with a tent 4x2x4 the T5 light described in the title, 6cm clip on fan for air circulation and a 6cm exhaust fan with flange. Someone said it would be a better idea to just get a 150w hps. I have been looking around on the forum and it seems a 150w hps would be a little underpowered. Im just looking to grow around 2-4 plants tho so im not 100% sure if thats true for my setup. Need a little help lol

I would like that set up, for germinate and maybe Veg a few weeks before I trow em in under my 600W HPS

I could see it work as a start and to learn and grow a few small plant, but Im pretty sure you end up getting a HPS for flowering unless your ok with getting a small yield of flimsy buds ..

so you have to ask your self if it wouldn't be better to use the money now on a nice tent and a good 400W MH/HPS and a good 6" ventilation/filter/cool tube to start with, that will grow you 4 nice plants for sure ..

sumthing like this

Yeah a 216 watt HO T5 will out perform a HPS 150 watt but penetration is not as good, coverage and bulb choices are much better. I am using around 350 watts of HO T5 for bloom.

Check out the T5 threads here, especially Club T5, or LED Without LEDs My First T5 Grow

4 bulb HO T5 is great for canopy, then 1-2 1-2 bulb for side lighting below the canopy and you have an excellent set up for 2-4 plants

These are growing under a ramp up/down set up. Seedlings are started under 2 bulbs, as they grow 2 more up till all 8, then I back down to 4 bulbs. Not pictured, I now have side lighting
