are the tomato cages better than the net? was using bamboo for a bit but my friends are telling i need to lay the net
Tomato cages are better for solo plants. I'm doing scrog method this time to maximize canopy coverage. I'm expecting to need the scrog to hold the colas up

Mini update here at Day 28

Plants are looking good, growing nicely. I topped one of my plants and tied down the growth tips. My buddy topped all of his plants.

I will be topping my remaining two tomorrow most likely. Let the manifolding begin!

Day 35

Did some quick maintenance, getting ready to top my plants again in the 1-3 days (depending on the plant).

Partner topped 2 of his and did some cleaning.

Happy with my growth thus far. Strong recovery from the enviro issues. Seems like I may have a lil critter problem, nothing too major though.

Day 43 from germ

Topped the inner nodes on all 3 of my plants yesterday. I never topped this far (past 8 colas) so I was kind of winging it. I decided to wait until the inner nodes reached 3 nodes of their own before topping. The outer nodes are, naturally, slightly behind. I'll probably top those Friday/Saturday.

Looking nice and strong. Loving the results thus far. Daily training is a grind but anyone who has mainlined knows it's well worth the reward.

Day 46

Third and final topping for my babies last night. So much tying down o_O

Plants are looking pretty good overall, only had 1 node that was asymmetrical, the rest grew out beautifully. We do have a couple critters crawling around that we're working on. Going to get some nematode SF for the few gnats. We also have a couple carper beetles we found that we're also working on exterminating. Overall though not very concerned, things seems to be going pretty well.

Feel free to drop a comment with your thoughts

They seem really stunted for their age and any reason why you cut the big fan leaves?
You should try just lst instead of topping imo.
We had some environment issues early on with temp/humidity. Plus went straight from seed to 5gal. Their age is from that time.

The 3 plants that are super tiny are my friends plants, who doesn't have a ton of experience with mainlining.

Gotcha my first attempt at growing had them stunted for the exact same reason. Experience comes with time. Good luck.

Thanks brother, appreciate it. We changed our entire setup, we had them in a 10x4 before it was an absolute mess. We enclosed them this time with some mylar type stuff, but had a space heater die out on us when it was still cold out. Just figuring out what this environment likes.

Day 57

Hey ya'll,

A quick update for you folks here. Plants are looking good, slight light burn on a couple but raised the lights as we increased the intensity. All topping has been completed, time to just get that horizontal growth going to cover the area (or as best we can). Currently trying to figure out how to tie these down past the pots. We're thinking of getting a metal grid to lay under the pots to tie down to. We'll make a decision soon.

Comments/questions welcome.

Thanks

Really beautiful work so far my dude. I freakin loved mainlining on my first grow and it went beautifully! I believe I stopped at 8 if I remember, imo the people that would enjoy this technique the most are the ocd types haha. It really feeds into being meticulous etc. Adding that net is a nice touch and you did your tie downs perfectly. Def watching this one play out. Keep it going!!!

Thank you for the kind words my friend!

In the future I won't be doing 16 per plant due to my limited vertical space (4ft not counting lights). Tying down 16 nodes when you're stacking that shit like pringles makes for a hellish time dealing with the plant - never again lol. Maybe if I have more space vertically in the future, but I'd rather do 8 colas and add 3 more plants in the space.

Right before this I gave them a nice watering with a Dr. Earth 4-4-4 tea (mainly for the bonuses other than npk). They seem to like it, cruising right along!

This is Day 74:

Day 88 / Day 1 of FLOWER

Hey Ya'll,

An update here for you as we begin our first day of flower. Very very happy with the progress of my scrog babies. My buddies plants (the front 3) have grown nicely as well.

Had a pH issue with my plants which is the cause for a lot of the discoloration (yellow/browning) you see. Just gave my ladies some Lotus Bloom and Calmag pH'ed to 6.8.

Increased intensity of the lights to 80%
LETS GOOOO BABY!
