allright everyone here it is!

ive got 3 cabs total. they are all homemade out of plywood, 2x3's, polyshield, screws, hinges, etc.

the smallest is a 2x2 cube that has 184 watts of mixed temp cfl, but isnt running. i use this as a good secure spot to dry my harvest.

then i have a 3x3 cube. this little baby has 4 sets of 4 - 23 watt cfls also mixed temp (3000k and 6500k). there is also a layer of bricks on the floor, put there to help balance temps, doesnt seem to do much to be honest. keeps the cab more firmly in place i guess. temps in the veg cab range from 65 or so, lower in the winter, to 85 during the daylight hours. there is a 4 inch 85 cfm fan pulling air out of the center of the top of the cab. 4 - 1.25 inch pvc intakes 2 on each side.

and then the flower cab. it is 4x4x6. 600 watt lumatek ballast running on super lumens. lumatek high PAR HPS. growers choice air tube hood. its huge and awesome lol (my first). there are 1.25 inch intakes, 2 on each wall so 6 total, and the doors dont seal completely. there is a 6 inch 240 cfm fan pulling air through the hood, and another pulling air out of the top of the cab to one side. temps in here run around the same as the veg cab.

pictures to follow that will explain all. lol. so i started with some bagseed for my first grow. completed successfully. germinated 11 and ended up with 2 females. monster cropped them early in flower and took 9 clones total. just harvested the second of the 2 females on monday. got a lil over an ounce on each lady. not bad for a first grow!

anyway, monday i ALSO put the first clone into the flower cab. i was in process of building/attaining bulbs and ballasts and things for almost the entirety of the flowering period for my first two ladies, so am VERY excited to see what this (apparently) dank strain does under a HPS for all of flower! (hence, this journal) this leaves 8 clones in the veg cab. one of them, the first clone i took, is now my mother. she is full and lush. loving it. the others are in various stages of veg growth but idk whether it was monstercropping them or WHAT but the clones started off gnarly looking and then turned into super tight noded lil lady clones. they are awesome. so ANYWAY i will be putting them into flower one every week or 2 weeks, havent quite decided yet...thats why im posting the journal though i guess, right? hoping in about 8 weeks to have my perpetual running.

like i said, will post pics soon. started this thread before i realized that im not on the right computer for uploading pics, otherwise would have just included them. hopefully SOMEBODY reads all this nonesense and decides to stick around and watch and give input and advice!

Dude, i'm totally in on this one, subbing right now...you and I are on the same page exactly...how many gals you think you are gonna do in the flower box? i'd think you could fit 4-6 comfortably, if they go into flower at about 12"-14"...I'm gonna be starting up in about 3 months and would love to keep in touch, passing notes and advice if you're down...best of luck

i feel so at home here! lol...glad to have you all along. why wouldnt you run it on super lumens gas? thought that was the point of getting the matching ballast and bulb. extra lumens in the high PAR range...

Matching the bulb and ballast are to run at the correct frequency which ups lumen count and bulb life. Running a tad more electricity through the bulb than it's designed for (super lumen) will put out slightly more light but at a lower efficiency. By all means you can do it but it just isn't totally necessary and will cause your light to depreciate a bit faster. IMO the best use for super lumen is when your bulb is really old. At that point you've already lost 15% of your light so the extra wattage just bumps it back to normal for the last stage of the bulbs life.

Here's a video that might help - everything they say about the digilux should also be true for the lumatek high PAR bulb.
