300w LED grow light. Need help!

Hey guys,

First post here. Just started growing some seeds I was given. Have no idea how long they have been going for, maybe 3-4 weeks. My question is mainly on lighting distances away from the top of the plants and what is safe? I currently have a 9 band 300w LED grow light and wondering how far to keep them away from the top of the plants and what's safe? I've added some photos just to seek your advice. The plant on the right is 22 inches from the top of the plant to the light and the one on the left is 24 inches from the top of the plant to the light. What are your recommendations? Very new to this and still learning as I go. Any more help on Ph and whatnot would be much appreciated. All the little things help. I've also done some research and topped the left plant and fimmed the right so we'll see how it goes. Also bought another 300w identical LED for extra lighting. Hopefully not getting too ahead of myself too quickly.

Thanks guys.

that doesnt tell us much. efficiencies of these lights are all over the map and its prob not even 300W. maybe someone here might have some experience with the specific model of light

Sorry mate.

Your dead right. i can't post the link for some reason but it's a 300w full spectrum LED light with 3 x 100w leds off Ebay. Paid about $100 for it.

I set my panels at 18 inches for the first week and 12 inches there after using a few old style mars 100x 3w 300w panels ( 175w draw )

Check into par readings of led panels at different distances and you will see why people use 12 inches

I have the 300's.

37" for sprout. 30-35" veg. When the light is switched to flower. Slowly lower it to 12-15" to the tops. I'm using a section of dog chain. Each loop is about 3/4". Drop it to 20"-25" at flip then walk it down a link per day till you get in that 13" range. Every day you check the plants, lower it a link.

The cheaper lights lie about the output. It's not a true 300. Act like the light is 250 or 200 watts. If you don't get it close enough. The buds will be airey, light, and fluffy. Good in edibles but looks like crap in a bag. It'll piss you off.

Forgot to add. When you've drop the light to the 13". Follow the stretch in flower up. Raise the light in intervals, maintaining the 13" till finish.

So definitely drop it a fair bit then being a cheaper light? Like your saying the 13" mark and see how that goes?
