3000w (615w draw) 2x4x6, is it too much?

Hey everyone. First time LED grow. I haven’t grown in years but decided to start back. I purchased an FAMURS 3000w led from Amazon for my 2x4x6 tent. The actual draw is 615w from the wall so I figured it would be comparable to a 600w HPS/MH.

Was I wrong? Is it too much power for the tent? I know LED emits less heat so that’s why I went with LED and I wanted to yoeld as much as possible in that size tent so I went with the highest wattage. I can get it about maybe 3 FT above the canopy once everything gets going and I’ll have 3-4 plants in 5 gallon buckets.

Will this work or will I have bad heat issues? I do have an 4” exhaust fan running and an fresh air intake from my window. Someone please advise.

Plan on growing some White Russian from serious seeds, some Lemon ICE, and some S.A.D S1. Serious seeds send me some seriously cracked seeds but they were super nice and sent replacements out for free.

I’m not familiar with that light but that is a LOT of light for. A 2 ft x 4 ft tent. Is it dimmable. With the tent being only 6 ft tall you might have problems with bleaching. General speaking with LEDs you want like 30-40 watts per sq ft of quality LEDs.

It has flower and bloom settings but I don’t think it’s dimmable. I may return it and get a 1500W one if you all think it’s a major problem

I think your going to have issues with the 3000 in a 2x4 if you can’t dim it that’s 77 watts per sqft. Like I said I don’t know the efficiency of what’s coming out but it seems like too much light for that space. If the tent were taller you might get away with it,

It’s not a true 3000w. It’s really 615w that’s being drawn from power max.

Yep and 615÷8 is the way he did the math
.. so unless the light is absolute trash it will be massively too much light.

You'll want 400 watts max from the wall. Ideally with a quality led youd be using 240-300 watts. If I was you I would return the light and get some coaching in the led forum if you want to stay with led.

What makes it so different from HPS. Because I ran a great grow at 600W HPS in the same tent. Sorry I’m just curious and it’s my first time doin LED

LED are more efficient at producing light. The general rec is 30 watts per sq ft. Of quality LED. As an example I run 40 watts per of Samsung strips on a dimmer with an additional 9 of Blues, violets and UVA on a dimmer and 7 of red and photo red on a dimmer and some far red for sunset use. If I turn and burn full on in bloom I can cause light stress and flower bleaching at 20”. Was the 600HPS in a 2x4 only 6’ tall?

Technically speaking 50 watts per sq ft is what you want, it's ok to run over that but it's kind of pointless, I've ran 30-100 watts per sq ft hps and I wouldnt run over 50per sq ft or advise it. It's just a waste pretty much.

Keep it and buy a new bigger tent. Or get a dimmable light like the Viparspectra PAR 450 or 600. ($188-223 at Amazon)
These have dimmers for red, white, and blue light.

Thanks everyone I returned it and got a 2000w (380w actual) version. I needed to keep the tent size that I have and this one also has a built in timer and humidity monitor etc with a remote
