300 watt CFL from Lowes....

Bought a 300 watt cfl at Lowes today. Package didn't give much info on lumens/kelvin etc.... Is anyone familiar with this or similar bulbs? Actual usage is 65 watts, equivelant to a 300 watt it says. It screws into a standard (medium base) light socket. Good, bad, indifferent?? I figured the more wattage the better.

oh i was finna say let me know how much u paid but.
It's only a 65w cfl and its equal to a 300w reg bulb.
I have 85w cfls and dey work good.
Is the light bright white?

based on other bulbs, I'd say it's between 3400 and 4000 lumens. I can't really answer the Kelvin part, but does the light look like a regular light bulb, or is it more white?

It's definately bright white! Not the yellowish tint style. The box doesn't say 65 watts but the sticker on the shelf said 65 watt..... I paid $16.00 for it.

I think I saw the same bulb at Lowes when I was there today! Was it made by 'American something-or-other'? and shaped with the U-shaped lights, or the twist light kind?

Is it so bright that it is almost blue?

good light. you growin wit just one of those?

No, I have a 250 watt HPS, looking for a 400 watt hps but for now, using the 300 watt cfl down inside the center of the plants for extra light. I have several 1000 watt units but can't run them with my current power supply setup. I'll make due for now with my inside grow, I breeding so over-abundant bud isn't a major concern at this time.....That's what my outdoor grow is for! :hump: Check out my grow journal (below).

Happy growin i saw ya plants nice bra

The grocery store by my house carries something comparable but it is a 45 watt (200 watt rating). The bulb I looked at had a color temp of 4100k, I would be willing to bet this is the same color temp. There is nothing wrong with that for veg purposes but you may want to add some smaller 6500k CFL's to compliment it. Again I am not 100% sure about your new bulb, just speculation.

Best of luck to you on your new project.

I have a couple of those exact same bulbs but the color from the is a little more on the yellowish orangish side so im guessing they are 2700 K.

DO you guys think that 3 of those bulbs plus another 150 Watt rated CFL would cover a small 4X3 closet flower/growroom

I thought I saw someplace on either the box or the bolb that it said either soft white, or cool white. It was in that section on the shelves; not in the daylight section.
