i'm starting a new room it will be 8'x8'x8' and i'm only going to grow 10-14 plants in the room.. i will use the rest of the space for equip. (resovior and fans, ect.) i wasa thinking about what type of lights to use and i still can't deciede.. i was going to use 600watt lights then i couldn't deciede to use 2 or 3 seperate fixtures in the room... then i was thinking would 2 1000watts be better or would i get less coverage.. i've been reading and it says that the 600watts are more efficient compared to 1000 watts.. can someone give me some help with this.. also i will start flowering at around 16" in a soil grow.. i will not be using cooltubes becaues i can buy more fans and vent to the outside..

Draw the outline of the area your plants will be flowered in say 5x4??--20 square feet--50 watts a foot=One 1KW lamp......50 watts per square foot of flowering canopy is right-on......Since plants will end up as bushes about 4'tall if flowered around 16" you will want the 1kw for penetration or the bottom buds will be light and airy:blsmoke:

well each pot will be 1' in diameter (round pots) i was thinking about 5x5 which would be 4 rows of 3 in the 5x5space

That will work with 1-1kw light....keep them closer together (in a 4x4 space) and spread them out as they need room, also rotate outer plants with inner to keep growth even.:hump:

would 2- 600watts be better or just as good because i could give them a little extra room to grow by having 2 seperate lights..

better yes, 1kw in a square 5x5 is giving only 40watts per foot(closer to 50 is better)......reflectors tend to throw a rectangular pattern so that with the added watts would be great:!::bigjoint:

hmm... i was just thinking.. i could get 3 and have one more row.. that would give me a 5'x6' space which would =30 and divide that into 1800watts would = 60 watts per foot.. that would be nice.. how much would 1800watts running 12 hours a day put my electrical bill up? becaues i wolud have 3 maybe 4 fans in that room to control heat and then a veg room running 8 floresent fixtures and 2 fans..and the regular power i use in the house... so would that raise the bill alot more?
