Looking to build a 2'x39.5"x6' I have already figured out that i will need 4 4x8 sheets of plywood, though i would love to use MDF but i think that will be more expensive. I am planning on using 1/2 plywood put together with nails and gorilla glue (this bitch aint coming apart easily)

I have the general layout all figured out however i have not figured out the best hinges. I am obviously looking for as few light leaks as possible and the tighter the hinges the better. I do NOT have a router, or any way to inset the hinges, hell i dont have any power says but ill be fine by hand w/ a straight cut.

i will be using a 150w hps w/ other lighting. The plants are already growing and will just be put into the cab once its built.

I can cut down the height, and might do that in the future and turn this cab into a veg cabinet, at about 4' so i would like to bring it up at like 6'... would like the extra height so i can adjust the lights as much as i must, and in case the plants get larger than expected

Hey there,
Are you refering to compressed particle board as MDF. That stuff is real cheap and nice, drill pilot holes and caulk your joints. I would go for the biggest interior hinge possible if you wanted to keep it light tight. Weather stripping can help seal the light around the hinge door. Exterior hinges can leave gaps and cause a crack for light to escape

i dont have any screws, and was thinking that nails would hold it together long enough and tight enough for the gorilla glue to set and harden.

and my dimensions are right, just in a weird order, it should be 2' deep, 39.5" wide, and 5' tall
i dont see any way to lay that out to 3 sheets... if you were to do a quick mspaint drawing it would be useful...

and i was planning on using weather stripping, i just dont know yet how to make the vents and cool tube light proof.

I realize you are probably doing this because you like to build things but it would be much more practical, economical, and stealthy if you go to goodwill and buy a used wardrobe cabinet or something or whatever. I mean not having the proper tools and all it would still be a hell of a project just to modify an existing cab to actually fit light tight.

Just a thought, what do I know.
