hey i have a 300w bulb cfl the spring looking energy saver ones how close to the top of my plants do i want that thing to be can you help i hear all different distance's????

That 300w, is that the equivalency rating? You will normally want to speak about the actual wattage rating around these parts, as it can get confusing otherwise - and the equivalency really doesn't mean shit

The 300w equiv's are normally 65w actuals, so I will assume that is what you have either way...

For all CFLs, you want them as close to the plant as possible. I keep mine 2-3" away. If you notice leaf burn, pull them back a little farther, but not much. if you're burning at 3", move to 4"...etc.

You really shouldn't see any burn with a 65w @ 3" away though.

i have the spring bulb TCP 2700k from lowes it says soft white, 300 watt equivalent using 68 watts like how many of these would i need in my closet to get a decent yeild?? please help right now i have 2 of these i am growing 4 ww plants in my veg stage but i need some help on my plant age i lost track so bad busy busy but ?? oh can i use this bulb to flower or just veg??

First, it should not be 2700k in veg, it should be mostly 6500k. If 4 plants are fairly close that is perhpas 2 sq ft of growing area. 200w of the right spectrum mix would be good for veg and then bump that to maybe 300+ for flower. (when you want mostly 2700k)
