Im down but I can't take out my plasma. If I'm allowed I can make space with my gsc. Let me know if I can join.

Wont be mad if I can't, but I will be a little sad, kinda like that kid that always sits in the sidelines, watching everyone have fun......
I think it would be best to let the rest of the participants decide...

Gotcha. Best of luck.

I'm in if I can figure this tablet out to post pics. Anybody have a nexus 7 ?
No clue demonhaze...can always post to something like photobucket and link it here if you can't figure out how to work the native attachment manager. Let me know if you figure it out and want to get signed up.

Oh hell yeah, i am so in on this one!!!!!!!
Welcome Alex. Hope you have fun.

I think that is everyone so far. Again, if I skipped anyone, let me know and I'll get you/them signed up. I think we already have the same amount of participants if not more than last time. From the looks of it, we have a pretty strong lineup so far. Should be for some good competition.

Thank you, Puff, for being so kind as to host this for all of us to have fun! I'm sure I'm not alone in thanks and I hope that we can have a good, clean fight :fire:

Just so I get this all down before I sign up;

1: Germ 5, keep 1
2: 12/12 from seed
3: In a party cup the entire grow
4: Begins 1/1/2013

If that's all good sign me up
and now some questions

4: Same LED light for the duration?
5: Do we use nutes or pura agua?
6: Can we grow them any way we want to? Topping, Lst, Scrog, etc. I mean, I don't even know if they will get that big, just curious.
7: Do any other restrictions apply?

I vote that for anyone that can't go LED alone they should still be allowed to compete but can't qualify for any prizes, like what amateurs have to do to compete with the pros in order not to lose their collegiate status.

And I also plan on using multiple lights, like I'll be using a 20 watt 12,000K to germinate them, then I'll switch to a BS240 after sexing. Plus I fuck with my plants before flowering so a ruling here would help clarify things. I want to get multiple tops/colas going. And what about cup modifications? Like can we make air-cups? :)

Totally had the same idea with the "air-cup" thing lol! I agree with the strictly LED rule and letting anyone compete (only pure LED grows qualify for prizes). Sticking to the rules strictly will help to preserve the integrity of the competition.

I also wanted to inquire about nutrients, medium, etc. Any rules at all?

EDIT: Perhaps an extra "moderator" or "judge" in case it's needed...

we cant make rules that are easy to cheat ... as far as light goes, I would say to qualify you have to have main light source LED but whatever else you might use is up to you. Same goes with nutrients. Just chipping in with my thoughts on the rules, doesnt matter to me.

I think the 16oz container is enough of a rule, even the lighting cycle is impossible to really control anyone could use 18hours and autoflowers and no one would ever know ... I dont no that it would be an advantage, but I am only saying that it's best to have flexible rules and just do it for fun.

I was wondering if we could make the starting date more flexible this time around since it's will be Christmas and all, I know some people wanted to start it a week later, me I would prefer to start it a week earlier. Like the 23-24 germination. This would give me almost enough time to do the full grow before I get busy with work again.

Al-right Puffin puff what do you think?

in the orignal contest we all used the most basic of party cups, in my case i used a plastic transparent cup, not the best idea
to start going down the route of "air-cups", would take the comp down a different route of whose party cup tech is better

I agree with the past couple post, especially endurexx. This competition should be strictly LEDs. But If I had things my way, I would love too get away from those party cups and give them at least a couple weeks veg from seed. At least 1 gallon pots sound nice. I think the part cups take away from the potential of the plant. And the ability of the grower.

I think I could do better in the 1 gallons ... well .. obviously!! but I mean against the field ... I would be in the race a little more :fire:

2 weeks veg would not make much of a difference foreverflyhi, ... it would be more or less the same, but I dont care!

Party cups are available anywhere making them easy for everyone to get. Having consistency in the container ensures a fair and level playing ground, there's enough variables with genetics, nutes, medium, lights, and environment. We need some consistency... lol

true ,.. and I have 3 different kinds of 1 gallon containers that all look different size hehe. but technically, 16oz is 16oz and 1 gallon is 1 gallon :eyesmoke:

Yes, but the rest of the world have no idea what you are talking about, we all use metric

http://www.science20.com/hammock_physicist/metric_vs_imperial_end_epic_battle

The BUL gang: the rogue nations (Burma, US, Liberia) that stubbornly refuse to accept international standards on measurements.

US columnist Dave Barry clarified these sentiments in a hyperbole that might not be too far from true feelings:
"[..] my belief, as an American, is that if I have to start understanding the metric system, then the terrorists have won."

a plain party cup is best

Well for the sake of this competition it should be party cups.
I'm sure everyone that was in the last Competetion will have a huge advantage.

a part of me feels bad for the poor stunted plants that had potential to dig deeper with their roots, with more time to veg and grow more beautiful flowers.

Lets take this as a lesson on life, we all need time to veg and space for our roots to grow! Metaphorically that is..

Ill sit in the side lines and shut up now...

What's up Dolamic? Nothing is set in stone yet, but your points 1-4 are all correct, as of now, unless everyone else wants to change stuff up...for your next 4-7 questions:
4. Doesn't have to be the same led light for the whole grow, if you get a new one or something, go ahead and use it. or if you want to start with one and add another later, totally cool with me. Just needs to be 100% led.
5. nutes are suggested but you can do straight water if you think you can compete like that.
6. any method of training, topping, super cropping, etc is acceptable. Last time we had a couple guys top them and came out badass.
7. no other restrictions that I can think of right now...

Let me know if you want to sign up.

I'm ok with letting non-led users play along, but they can't win the prize. What's an air-cup? Like poke holes in the cup to make it like an air pot?? What do the participants think about this?

Same question about the air cup, not sure what you guys are talking about. any nutrients, medium you want. If anyone out there wants to help me moderate/judge, let me know, it's always good to have an extra pair of eyes on stuff.

Yeah i wouldn't recommend clear cups, red or blue party cups would be best.

So wait, do you guys still want party cups or something bigger? I personally think the cup is what makes the competition, anyone can grow in a gallon container, but a cup actually takes some skill. But I'll leave it up to you guys, whatever the majority wants.

Party cups are available anywhere making them easy for everyone to get. Having consistency in the container ensures a fair and level playing ground, there's enough variables with genetics, nutes, medium, lights, and environment. We need some consistency... lol
I think the majority wants to stay with party cups, am i right? I can have all the participants send me a vote for party cup or 1g if you want?

Yes, to fashion the cup like an air-pot. And as far as the 16oz cup thing, you have my vote to keep it.

I'm flexible on the start date. Everyone, send me your preference on the start germ date: 12/22-12/23, 12/29-12/30, or 1/5-1/6. whichever dates get the most votes pm'd to me, we'll go with.

I'm not experienced in growing on such a small space, so I'd feel more comfortable with 1 gallon. I'll be glad to try party cups, though! Always good to learn. So I don't know what to vote for.

Also, 1/6 would be the only viable date for me, I'll spend the holidays with my family on another state...

I'm gathering that some people, including myself, only have limited room and using a party cup would insure it wouldn't interrupt people's normal grows, ya feel me?

I'm cool with everything so far, I'll just wait on a date to be set. We could have a "Germ Week" since the holidays are coming up and everybody has different plans. People will finish a grow earlier than some anyways right?
