2nd Grow using LED & CFL Combo

This is my second grow. I used only the Blackstar 240 for the veg stage then remembered that I had a 2700K CFL so I added it when I went to the 12/12. This is a Dutch Passion Euphoria grown from seed. I started germinating on 1 January 2013 and switched to flowering on 10 February 2013. I think I vegged it a little too long because it has almost outgrown my cabinet. This one is twice the size of my first grow. The cabinet size is 6 feet tall X 3 feet wide X 1 1/2 feet deep. My first grow I harvested roughly 3 ounces dry from 3 plants. I made the mistake of planting all three in the same DWC bucket. Learned my lesson there but the smoke was still good. I have big hopes for this girl! I'm using the full Fox Farm line up and city tap water. What do you think fellas? Any suggestions?

Lookin pretty good! just a suggestion i would try and clean up the electrical on the ground for safety reasons, wouldn't want it to get spilled on unless you like electrocution and fire. -Much love

THATS NICE MAN ! how has your dwc experience been ? on my way towards going dwc like yours. theres no way you will get less than 2 ohs of that huge girl. good luck. what kind of cfl is that by the way ?just a normal one or the big grow light cfls?

The DWC experience has been relatively easy after I got things figured out. Proper PH and not over feeding are the 2 most important things to master. I hooked up 2 airpumps to the bucket as a fail safe. The CFL is one of those big lights, not really "compact". It's a 200 watt. I'll know in a few weeks if it helped or not. I'm pretty satisfied with the Blackstar 240 LED for ease of set up and lack of heat. My first grow was done completely with the LED alone so I'll compare yields and bud quality. I'm just a personal use grower, not looking to supply the county. After some trial and error and wasted money I'm verifiably able to produce enough sticky stanky good smoke to make my buddies keep asking "where'd you get this shit"? Little do they know 10 feet away in the bedroom I have a 5 foot sativa basking in the light! lol I do think after I use up the 5 Dutch Passion seeds in my fridge I'll stick with autoflowers like I grew the first time around. I have enough room to grow 2 plants and with autoflowers I can start a new grow at anytime even if I have one plant already flowering. Right now with this nonautoflowering sativa I'm stuck and can't start a new plant until I chop her down.

Yeah, you're right on the electric. I have one power strip mounted on the corner wall on the right side. I did that to get it off the floor because of the reason you stated. The power strip on the left was going to also be mounted on the corner wall but then the timers wouldn't fit because of clearance space. I kind of got lazy and just left it in the floor. I think maybe I can rig it up to fit center on the back wall and that will get it off the floor.

Oh yeah, one thing that I just learned is that when a plant gets this big, a 5 gallon bucket is a little small. She has been drinking a half gallon a day for awhile and that makes being gone from home for more than a day hard. That kind of cuts into my living single social life. When you factor in how low the six inch net sits you're down to probably 3 1/2 gallons volume. After she drinks a half gallon to a full gallon the roots are over exposed in my opinion. I think in the future, after I burn up my present seed stock, I'm sticking with autoflowers because they don't get quite as big, an additional plant can be started and added at anytime, and I was happy with the quality and yield of my first autoflower under the LED light.

Well, she grew even taller and started touching the light. I switched to a 3.5 gallon bucket which gave me about 4 more inches of head room. Hope she's close or finally done getting taller. This smaller bucket is even more of a pain in the ass and requires checking twice a day. I now definately know to not veg my plant too long! lol She sure is big and pretty but damn, I just don't have the space. I thought a 6 foot grow cabinet would be plenty! lol

This is a really good point. An autoflower can grow on a Veg cycle of a Flower cycle.

I used 24/0 but paid for it in the power bill.

Take care,
