Update: Day 25 Veg

  • Growth since introducing the nutes at the start of the week has taken off, little bud sights are popping up everywhere. I don't exactly know if this is a result of my attempted FIM, but i'll let you decide (see pics). Ive only grown pure sativa's so don't know what to expect when it comes to indica's.

  • Both plants were fed for 3 mins on monday, 2 mins on thursday, and what should have been 2 mins today (saturday) but ended up being 3 mins. I say should have been 2 mins because after 3 mins there was quite a lot of run off.

  • All soil was removed from under the pots as I thought it would allow bugs and insects to live undetected (paranoia), although I'm considering now putting a little at the bottom of the tray to absorb the run off. This way it'll hopefully prevent standing water like I've got now if I ever mess up the watering schedule, and still gives me access to the soil to check every now and again for anything living there.

  • One or 2 leaves have little marks on them from insects sitting on the leaves, must be coming through my air intakes when they're switched off to give the fans a break every now and again during lights off.

  • The 6" fan has been switched to its highest setting now as the plants have developed a nice thick stalk and should be able to take it. Hopefully this'll ward away any future flies.

  • All fan leaves have been folded under the new sprouting bud sights to ensure they all get max light and grow equally.

  • Out of the 2 plants, the Sour D definitely looks a lot more robust and full, with the leaves generally bigger, and the over all plant looking stronger and healthier. The Blue cheese is also looking very healthy, but leaves are a lot thinner, the new growth is less developed, and the plant is overall less dense.

  • If anyone here is experienced at topping can you see the first 2 pics and let me know what to expect in the next few weeks.

  • Will be cutting the very first set of fan leaves off on both plants (1st node) tonight. They're not really getting any light, they're touching the soil and generally not looking great.

  • If growth continues like this I might only veg for another 2 weeks or so which would make a total of 5 weeks or just over a month.

Terminal those plants look pretty huge for only a 1 month veg and no training, however saying that my sour D's growth has just taken off. She's looking pretty big for just over 3 weeks old in comparison to my super lemons from my last grow. Much faster in Veg. My cupboard isn't nearly as big as yours, I'd say similar depth but yours is a good foot or 2 wider. Still, similar setup, hope mine fills out as much as yours. From what i tell my environment is nearly perfect, 27C, plenty of air circulation and due to the inlines bringing in fresh air, plenty of air exchange. The real proof is in the plants, which seem to be in nearly perfect health, so things look good! So far..

I've been letting the soil dry out between watering and have started to water until I get some drips out the bottom so over watering shouldn't be an issue/never has been.

So you're saying you got around 7-8oz per plant!? That must be their wet weight surely. 1 Last question, what size are your pots? Looking for a diameter here in inches, the ones I've got are 10" pots, no idea how many gallons. Really don't want to transplant them when I start flowering due to the drippers (huge hassle) but if its really gona be worth it I will. Flushing is going to be another pain, but I definitely want to do this just before I switch to 12/12, will have to disconnect all the lines.

My plants were actually starved (started looking like they were dying) because I waited too long to start feeding them, but when I gave them that first dose of veg nutes they took off like crazy. My pots were 11'' ID, 3 gal square ones. Plants were 18'' tall when I switched to flowering, and once in flowering they grew to a final height of 42'' or so. When I watered, I would water until a couple gallons came out the bottom of the pot. I would recommend doing this so that some of the salts get washed out of the soil every time you water. With that being said, you still need to do real flushes every 3 weeks or so. Wet weight was 44 oz between the two, after trimmed. Dry was at least 16...yes I still don't believe it myself. I have to go look at it every once in a while to make sure.

i'd say you could go ahead and switch to flower now if you're in a rush, but another week or so would be appropriate.
As far as results with topping, the plants not gonna start doin backflips or anything, but the colas (you should have 8 on each because of where you topped) will start to become more defined coming out the top, once you start flowering. be sure to tuck/bend to let the lower colas get light, so you can use full potential.

if you wanna have fun and see a more dramatic cut, i just cut all my plants back to 1/2 true nodes, so i can get certain patterns with them. the 2nd node cuts i plan on getting 4 colas and tying them to the edges of the pot, so more come up from the horizontal section.
:peace:

Now that I think about the grow a little more.. I think i vegged for at least 5 weeks. I'm not sure why I was thinking only a month, sorry bout that.

wassup man, glad to see you've got your grow back on. Subbed on this one for sure, especially after seeing what you managed last round!

I've got two autos on the go while my OG kush 18, trainwreck and mango are vegging. Haven't got a thread at the minute but I will let you know when I get one up mate.

lookin good those are gonna be nice bushy plants. hopefully they're ladies!
Cheers, aiming for as bushy as possible, want my cupboard filled up, sort of like a scrog. Infact that's exactly what I'm aiming for, a scrog, except height isn't an issue. They're feminized so let's hope for no surprises!

My plants were actually starved (started looking like they were dying) because I waited too long to start feeding them, but when I gave them that first dose of veg nutes they took off like crazy. All this info is really helpin plan this out so thanks. Were the plants at all root bound in the 11" pots? Still not sure whether to transplant mine into bigger pots just before flowering, these pots are about an inch bigger in diameter and height than ones used in my last grow, and with those there wasn't any sign of them being root bound. Then again I'm expecting a bigger root system on these because they'll be much bigger and denser than the SLH so I dunno!

Since I started feeding nutes at the start of wk 3, I'm thinking a proper flush just before I turn 12/12 should be perfect. Then a proper flush every 3 wks in flowering to ensure no salt build up. I just mixed up a fresh batch of full strength nutes for the next 2 weeks feedings, and at the moment they're only being fed twice a week, but each time quite throroughly. They seem to be taking it a lot better than SLH. Still can't believe u got 8oz dry off this plant, I got high expectations now. Didn't get anywhere near 8oz off both my plants last time. 5 wk veg sounds more like it, mine should be around that height by then.

i'd say you could go ahead and switch to flower now if you're in a rush, but another week or so would be appropriate.

Ha yeh I see what u mean now, 8 cola's on each makes sense. Would've preferred 4 but don't want to do anymore cutting and there's always next time. Didn't fully understand topping when i did mine but now I kinda do. Last time I ended up with 1 massive cola on each plant, and due to their size they began to mould from the inside. So hopefully 8 smaller cola's will not only result in a bigger yield than just 1 but also they will be smaller and therefore less chance of the same thing happening... If you get me.. 4 would've been perfect but nevermind.

I'm liking your what ur doing with urs, tying down the 4 should be interesting. I'm also thinking of LSTing mine, but I feel theyre too small to tie down just now, gona wait a week or so and then see what I can do, mite not bother though. Wana see how u go about doing yours though. I'll be over in ur thread in a bit.

Cheers man, I fucked up quite a few things last time round, but as they say you live and you learn. My first grow was just to give me some rough idea on cultivation, and to get all rookie mistakes out the way with. Having said that I plan to have much more control over this grow and therefore should be even more successful. The only problems I should encounter (if any) will come from my automated irrigation system, and I only really check up on the plants once - twice a week max, so who knows, I could be in for some surprises yet.

Liking your choice in strains, any reason why you've picked 2 auto's? Definitely want to see some pictures of this so make sure u take some for me.

HAha, you say that like your last grow was such a disaster! It was friggin dope man, and you took some really nice pictures. You're gonna smash it this round though for sure. I predict 42 pounds of reeking ganja in your future lol.

I 've only got the autos in there at the minute while the others are vegging. Not sure how familiar you are with autos but you just keep them on 18/6 cycle for the duration so I can have some bud while I veg the others up  got a picture of them today actually. Back left is lowryder 2, planted at the same time as the easyryder (front right), makes me lol at the difference in size! Og18 front left, and just out of shot is the mango and trainwreck seedling. I will keep you posted when I get an thread going mate.

Update: 1 month

  • Good growth in branches but some tops higher than others, decided to LST 4 branches on each plant + super crop 1 on each, leaving 3 untouched. Once the bent tops turn back towards the light everything should be roughly at the same height.

  • A little support was added to the super cropped branch on the sour diesel, had a big gash down the side where it was bent. Want to see how each plant reacts first, might consider doing more branches.

  • To bring both canopies to the same height i raised the blue cheese up a couple inches.

  • Might put into flower in a weeks time, depends how close i am to having a full canopy.

  • Sour D's 10" and Blue cheese is at 8"

Time will tell. Using a phone camera at the moment but will take out the digital camera when things get a little more interesting. I really want a separate veg room myself but need more space if i'm going to put it to any good use. Would have a couple clones in there and auto's to take up any spare room. Could have something or another flowering all year round in the flowering tent. Your Easyrider's looking pretty fat! Nice big leaves, how long is she from start to finish? The Lowryder 2's just staying good to its name

those look beautiful lilindian
Thanks maaan, so far I much prefer these to my last grow, in terms of shape, size and ease of growing. By now last time round I'd trimmed a whole load of leaves, stalk was bending slightly, they looked much smaller and nowhere near as healthy. The SD especially has surprised me.

hows it coming, still in veg? it looks like you have spent a lot of effort on your grow environment, you should have a sweet grow. What kind of nutes are you using again?

Yeh theyre doin good, both have responded well to being tied down, all the tops that were facing the sides of the cupboard when first LST'd have turned back up, including the 2 supercropped branches. However they havnt fully straightened back up and from what i can see havn't repaired themselves yet. Secondary bud sites are getting a lot more light though after tucking a couple leaves under and being tied down, dont think i can get them to the height of the main tops though, would require a lot more training and a lot longer veg time, and maybe even more space.

There are a couple spots appearing on some leaves on both plants, nothing major, just here and there, most leaves are in perfect health, however as a precaution ive switched the resevoir to plain water and will water with this for the next week. I'm sure there's some salt buildup in the soil and i dont want to add to it.. Theyve taken 2 full strength feedings in a row, and biobizz all mix is already pretty hot stuff out the bag. The right thing to do would be to flush now but i'm planning on puttin them into flower next weekend so want to hold off on the flush until then. So yeh 2 plain water feedings and a flush and i'll b switching over to 12/12 and a new HPS bulb!

I have spent a bit of time tweeking the environment but its far from perfect. After this grow this cupboard is most likely gona be torn down and i'm gona start from scratch for my next grow, now i'm slightly more clued up. For example with my current set up there is no easy way to flush the plants, let alone remove them from the cupboard for an inspection or anything. I'm using HESI nutes btw, don't know any1 else who uses them though.

That's the dream isn't it, I'd love to have a perpetual going but like you, don't have the space/ funds/ risk. The easyryder is meant to be 75 but most people finish 80-85, that's getting huge now. Everytime I go in there, it's just doubled in size haha. Yeh the lowyryder 2 is a little runt, should get a nice bit of smoke to pass the time though :D Hope your'e good mate.

very nice grow bro, set up is sweet! i have a bb blue cheese on the go first week in flower shes about 8-9 wks old vegd under a 300wt cfl for 3 weeks 6 weeks next to window :),now under 250 hps, biobizz soil and nutes repotted in final pot today stunted growth left her in a small pot for to long in veg, thc already! and smell!! love this strain enjoy pics peace

Good stuff, so auto's are still pretty long from start to finish then, thought theyd be quicker. How long do they 'veg' for? Really don't know too much about them. I always thought they stayed small, quick from start to finish and low yielding, basically just good for utilising space/gettin a lil extra smoke. Anyway keep the pictures comin. Checked out pukka's grow, he's got it down to a science i swear, some of the healthiest plants ive seen in a while. Definately a guy to follow. Cheers for the link.

Haha i swear the sun doesnt shine strong enough/consistently enough in swindon to leave a blue cheese plant by the window for 6 weeks. Either way ur tings looking pretty nice and healthy, but the pictures r TINY. What size pots have you potted up to? Im gona repot mine into 11litre square pots on the weekend, doing it for various reasons, you'll see in my next post. Never really been convinced by cfl's, glad to see uve got the hps for flowering. The smells only gona get better and better, hope u got some decent odur control going on. Anyway cheers for stoppin by, stay tuned!

Well the original autoflower - lowryder and lowryder 2 will finish in 60 days I reckon, but can't say the same for the easyryder lol. My lowryder2 started popping pistils after the 2nd node! so about 7 days of veg, the easy is still vegging at 39 days haha.

Yeh pukka had his grow dialled in first time round, not sure how but he literally grows the perfect plant! He does give them a really thorough feeding schedule and just has some green thumbs man, gonna smash it this round though, better than the last I reckon.
