2nd CFL Grow. Rubbermaid setup. Hoping to avoid the mistakes of last time.

Day 10

What can I say? They're doing well. They needed watering, so they might look it in the photos.

They're staying nice and compact, I haven't had to move the lights in a good few days. Nodes are forming with no stretch in between. That's the whole deal here-- keep it small, but keep it worth my time.

The sooner that tent comes, the better. I feel a little exposed having them in my closet, the doors have those venting slots all along the front, so the light leak is terrible. I mean, it can't be seen from outside the room (I've checked), but if anyone were to go in there it would definitely draw the eye's attention. It does make it a little hard to sleep in there, too, because I'm used to it being much darker in my bedroom.

Anyone else find themselves becoming especially paranoid if you smoke while growing?

Tent came today. But I won't set it up until next week. Maintenance is coming next week to test the smoke detectors and replace the furnace filters. My plants are still small, odorless, and easy to stash somewhere that's done. I'm not worried about anyone finding them, I'm just worried about stressing them, especially since I want to top them in the next few days, too.

Day 14

Well, that was good, the maintenance guy DID come today, just before noon. So, my plants only had to spend the morning sealed up and hidden in a plastic tote.

I can tell by looking at my poor little weedlings here that it was a morning they did NOT enjoy, and they were thirsty to boot! But now they're in their new home, and this week I can get the last of the lights I need and a timer, and a small fan to have blowing in there to strengthen the plants.

I'll also transplant them in a couple days (I'll give them a day or two to get over today, and I'm thinking 12/12 this weekend. Yeah, I have a little more height to work with now than when I was planning to go Rubbermaid, but that Buds for Less book said with CFLs, you wanna keep these plants short, and I believe that book.

Could smell be a problem for you during flowering?
Possibly. I mean, I grew from this same bagseed last year, and with five flowering females and no odor control, it smelled when I opened the door to the bedroom my grow closet is in. Now it's in a tent in a closet in a bedroom and I intend to have two girls at most.

I'm gonna make one of those ONA buckets. People on this forum have sworn by them.

Day 19/3

Switched to 12/12 a couple nights ago. They're starting to hit that fast growth, so I figured now was the time. They've recovered from that stressful day just fine. They're nice and green and happy-looking again. Now I just have to transplant, which I'll do tomorrow I think.

Might as well wrap up this thread.

I had to end prematurely last week. Apparently my kitchen was not clean enough for their liking. I got it all cleansed and shiny in there now, but someone from management said they'd be back at a later date to make sure I "resolved the household issue." I have no idea when that might be or how much the bitch is gonna sniff around.

I'm not happy about that, for many reasons. But it's certainly not worth risking jail time. And I suppose it's better to have to end it three weeks in than to have to end it three weeks from harvest. Once this blows over, I'll give it another shot, even if it would be a small one. I mean, an ounce of good stuff goes for 300-some around here, so even a harvest from one single female is a pretty good chunk of change saved.

I'd say for me to not have to buy it anymore, I'd need two ounces minimum per 90 days, which is not unheard of, though you'd have to do it very well to get that much from the scale I'm thinking of.
