28 Years For Growing Weed, Come On WTF!

A friend of mine got busted growing, once again "loose lips shinks ships".

Anyway he had over 100 plants, pretty greedy if you ask me.

But big deal its not like he was killing people.

Here is the kicker, since it was over 100 plants he got 28 freaking years.

Okay I am just too paranoid to continue, thinking tommorrow to destroy all but a few.

Geez 28 years, dam that pisses me off.

America is pretty strict overall with their drug laws what sucks is it depends on what state your in on how bad you get it, I lived in Virginia and Massachusetts before moving to Canada More than a couple Oz's can be a felony in VA in MA you can have up to 50 lbs and it just be a misdemeanor. That sucks for your friend though hopefully one day they will end prohibition and he can be freed before that time is up

we should be raiseing a kids to become these so that this could help others
if i had been one of thoses cops i would have hide and distoryed about 20 of those plants,if not more, just to show some love

Wow, in Canada we are hardly even bothered to imprison people for the biggest grow-ops. If you get arrested for a grow-op that takes up an entire house, you would probably only be looking at a few years and probation.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Stephen Harper is moving to try and make it like 2 years for 1 plant if he can.

One thing I'd like to consider though is for this guy's 28 years, would he stand a chance of early release and pardon if weed becomes legalized during his stay. Because really, at that point it's become a 28 year prison sentence for not showing respect towards the law, something on par with being obscene towards an officer, somebody important would have to step back and realize that somewhere down the line something went seriously wrong with the justice system in his case.

Your friend should get a lawyer cuz thats bullshit he's getting fuked over if your telling the truth. Some dude got caught transporting 700,000 pounds from canada to the usa and got 2-4years lol thats alot more then 100plants worth..and the prince of pot got convicted of transporting over a million pounds but took a plea bargin for 5 years..once again, your boy is getting fucked.

Well I would have no reason to lie. And yeah I just don't understand the thought process.

There was guns involved, but this guy was as easy going as you can get, everybody liked him.

I am not able to know the full story yet, maybe there is more involved, I don't really know.

That's probably what did it. There's a federal statute mandating a 30 year sentence if guns are involved in a drug offense. The Supreme Court even ruled that the gun doesn't need to be fired to qualify.

That's so overkill, therer should be no kill really, but that's a different story. Sorry to hear about your friends, I'm planning on growing around 12 plants just for personal and friends, getting greedy is dangerous.

The word "friends" in that sentence concerns me. Read the "I've been busted" threads here -- nobody except you should know about your grow. Don't sell, don't smell, don't tell.

this is the same federal government that allows 55 pharma companies to legally grow marijuana .....And holds a patent on marijuana until 2021

There is a five-year mandatory minimum for cultivation of 100 plants or possession of 100kgs, and there is a ten-year mandatory minimum for these offenses if the defendant has a prior felony drug conviction.

Cultivation or possession of 1000kg or 1000 plants triggers a ten-year mandatory minimum, with a twenty-year mandatory sentence if the defendant has one prior felony drug conviction, and a life sentence with two prior felony drug convictions.

I guess if he killed someone he'd get 5 years

Sounds like your friend has proir felony charges in his record

i call bs ,
my friend got busted with 36 pounds and only got 6 months in jail and 6 months with a tether on his ankle ,
and it was his 3rd time

Either way, don't give in to the pressure. There is no reason to abide by an unjust law ever. Best way to fight injustice is through civil disobedience.

I'd rather die, or be locked away for ever than willingly give up my rights. I mean this.
