Much love and appreciation for all you out here doing Gene.

Hard to tell from video but if you don't have an insulator between the plates and the ram/base you can use phenolic or other type of insulator otherwise you are dumping a lot of heat which can be sinking into the press if there is coupling for thermal transfer.

There's another material of some white stuff I forget off the top of my head but phenolic for sure works for thermal press insulator ime.

A 25 amp relay is really all that's needed for this application, right? I mean I used a 40, but think it may be a bit overkeel.

I got my harbor freight 12 ton for 129$ out the door with a 2 year warranty.

With that said...its a POS, and has huge tolerances. Flower squishing it's fine. But for hash/sift, its almost unusable because of the movement and inability to level consistently.

So just a heads up.

Ugh!!! this is my next project now that my veg room is done.
I was looking at the 20T one and possibly converting it to air later on. would give me a reason to finally buy a compressor.

I haven't and prolly won't.
I usually dry ice through a bubble bag and squish that but ill probably use these for flower.
