I'm going to be watching this one! Loving the fat wide leaves on the Purple Bud, can't wait to see what it turns out like. Will you be using the 250w on its own or have any additional lighting?
I'm also a 250w grower, check out my grow!

I can add two LED units that are being used to veg with (both of them adding up to around ~84 watts) but I am trying to keep it simple (less wiring, less fan noise, one light source, etc) so this is an experiment grow trying to dial in my grow space, how many strains/plants I can run at a time, and so forth. So far I am not pleased with the LEDs in veg, and watching your grow makes me even more envious... anyway... the MH bulb is on its way.

I once used a 200w LED light for an entire grow with some autos, I was inexperienced though and had heat and ventilation issues amongst other things. So I don't count it as a proper grow lol. I've seen lots of good grows with LED though.
I think you will be pleased with the MH mate. And yours look good for their age, keep up the good work!

Thank you for being here

If you're as passionate about growing as I am, and I'm sure you are, then you never really "move down" you just do better with less. Happy growing and point me to some pics of your grow :D

Also this is an unscheduled update. I fucked around with bending the top branches on the Purple Bud and snapped one of the tops. I decided not to try to repair it and just completely cut it off. I am very bummed out:

This could have been an excellent opportunity to dabble in a bit of "Mainlining"
I'm really tempted to try the technique myself, but i'm not sure how it will turn out in a low wattage grow. I suppose there's only one way to find out......

I ran the LEDs all the way through flower on one Purple Bud specimen this summer and I also had a lot of heat problems but she pulled through with pretty good yields (she is a big baby... needs support all the time) even with most of the fan leaves dying off in the heat. I also didn't call ti a proper grow and I've yet to taste it (still curing) but I passed along a few samples and I heard nothing but great reviews. I attached a pic from week 7-8ish...

Indeed it was a great opportunity to try it but I'm trying to be consistent on the training on both plants for experiment reason. Also, I've made two major mistakes this grow: I transplanted from small hempy cups to bigger pots and messed around with the roots too much and then switched to 12/12 right away and second was ripping the branch off. Tis very unlike me so I'll play it safe. Thanks again for taking a look at my grow

last update before I move em into a new home and finally switch to the 250 watter. Then I will be gone for a week so looking back on these pics I'm hoping to see big improvements
That Purple Bud looked sweet mate, bet you can't wait to try some! has it got the lemon smell?
And they are looking very nice, real healthy. I hate going away and leaving mine, but love coming back! When you first look in and you're like whoa! lol :hump:

The purple bud does smell like lemon especially while growing it smells like lemons and salt and armpits lol

Looking at the weather for next week... it's gonna be 25-30 degrees Celsius until the 28th. So I might hold back on the HID once again especially since I'm leaving for a week...

Interesting combination of smells lol
Might aswell hold back, especially if you won't be there to move the light up. I burnt mine last time cos I had to go away for a few days, right at the beginning of flower so of course they grew right into the lamp!

You dont "need" a mh light, An hps will do you just fine from established seedlings/clones all the way to harvest. My experience is that I lost yield when using a mh during veg mode and saw no dicernable difference in node spacing :) BB
I see. But I was just impressed by what @TheStickMan can do with a MH light. Naturally I try to replicate. Monkey see monkey do, ya know? lol

Nearing the end of week 3 now

I'm ordering a new batch of seminized seeds. I haven't decided yet: either Dinafem Power Kush or Blue Hash or DNA genetics OG Lemon Kush. I am very much inclined on the indica dom
Nice week away Grapefruit?
Looking great! I'm wanting to do a lemon strain, I've got an OG Kush seed, so I might just use that for the next grow, and maybe the Blue Kush after. Keep changing me mind, too much choice!

Each to their own, I haven't done any comparable grows using the same strains with or without metal halide. Although the last grow I did I started with HPS and it was stretching a bit so went out and bought a metal halide and it slowed down the stretch. Also this time round, left the metal halide on 10 days after switching to 12/12,, there was no massive stretch. And then soon as I switched to HPS, boom! lol I'm going to try leaving it on longer next time to see if theres any difference. It's all a learning curve, and I've still got shit loads to learn! ;)

Nice one indeed. I got home to see they gained at least 10-15 cm in height. Just switched flowering nutes; slightly diluted as I need a ph buffer. I find that mixing large batch of flowering nutes the ph goes well bellow 4 after adding the pink GH FloraBloom. I never had problems when doing batches of 1-2 liters. The water I start with is at ph 7 with 74 ppm.
The Blue Kush puts out less pistil sites at first, but I know for a fact the calyxes will swell up incredibly, although nothing compared to the Purple Bud. That purple bud you never know what she's gonna throw at you... she's a monster as far as yield goes lol. So if it's yield you're after there's your answer. For smell and everything else definitely go for the Blue Kush or the OG Kush. I've never had experience with that one but as far as I've read on terpenes and what not the OG Kush is right on the money with the lemon smell
