well the smell of the plants has gotten to be too much . so i broke down and spent 25 bucks to make my own air scrubber. many thanks to the other members on here who inspired me with their ideas. i'm not sure if it works yet but here it is.

things you'll need:
basic bathroom fan. 50 cfm- 15 bucks
activated carbon a/c, furnace filter- 9.99
piece of a grounded extension cord
a utility knife
3 wire nuts
wire strippers
duct tape.

as you can see all i did was duct tape the carbon filter of the trim piece that fits over the fan unit itself

last but not least duct tape over the remaining holes in the housing.

i can tell as a professional that the restricted airflow will most likely burn the motor out faster but, for 15 dollars who cares?thanks riu:clap:

How well is this working for you?
How many layers of carbon did you use?
How loud is this fan?
How big of an area/plant # does this scrub?

Nice job and +rep!!

i love that setup... killing two birds with one stone there, maybe even three if configured right. +rep. oh one question tho... how long does the carbon usually last, how often do you need to change it?

it definitely woks. its kind of loud though. 4 out of 6 sones it says on the box.the carbon filter is from an hvac unit . i folded it over on itself 4 times over. as for how large of an area . i would probably say a small closet . nothing more . its worked thus far but i'd imagine you should change the filter every three months . thanks guys and good luck.
