24 hour light source?

now, my lights, wattage, and that jazz is fine. what im inquiring about is whether or not i should continue to leave my lights on 24 hours a day. i know that for flowering it needs to be 12-12, but im not there yet (a couple of weeks)

my plants are healthy and what not, but i thought maybe they could grow better with the lights off for a while, i leave them on 24 hours a day because i am very busy most of the time and it really has been a non-issue, but i just got a timer from a friend and as a bio major understand that light does play a major role in a plants development, particularly the release of gases and what not through the stomata at night.

so, is my theory correct, should i put my plants on a 20 hour a day light regiment?

i think ill continue my normal schedule for the ones i currently have but future suggestions are nice

Yep, your instincts are correct. Switch to 20/4. The only time I recommend 24 hour lighting is if you either don't have a timer, or are cloning from, or revegging, a flowering plant.
