how would 24 hours of light, then 24 hours of dark effect a plant? would they go into flower because the dark period is too long? what about leaving the light on, but turning it off for one day a week. that'd be like 168/24. has anybody ever tried any crazy light cycle like this?

yeah, they would flower, but my guess is that they would be hermie since the schedule is so fucked up. I would never try this

What will happen will be that the plant will most likely die, and will almost def hermie. First, the 24 hours of light will tell the plant that the days are longer, and it will try to veg again, then the 24 hours of darkness will tell the plant that its dying. Nothing really good could come from it, unless I am completely wrong, but i dont think i am.

24 hours off wouldnt be a good idea in any situation. The plant would think its gonna die and freak out, causing stress and hermie most likely. Some people turn lights off for a few days at the COMPLETE end of flowering to promote resin production. The plant thinks its dying so it pumps out resin to slow fluid loss through its leaves. It will DEF promote resin, but most say that it wont be potent at all. So overall, 24 hours off, not a good idea. I would do the standard 18/6. Save some energy and the plants seem to love having a rest period.

well, you know what. I'm gonna take a bunch of plants, and by the time I die, I'm gonna have them adapted to a bunch of different thing. one of those things will be a crazy light cycle. and it don't have to be 24hrs, just a rest period once a week

Most of these wacky ideas we all get while stoned have probably been tested by now. The old timers got this shit down to a science.

24hr on 24hr off is not a good idea.

LoL.... i cant help you on this one cuz this is my first time growing any typer of plant. but tis good that you defend your ideas LoL...
