$23 Activated Carbon Scrubber!!!

That's a great build. Without taking away from the DIY aspect of this thread but focusing on the "lost cost" side I'd recommend the Odor-Soks. They're cheap, they work awesome (for small rooms and closet grows), they're lightweight and you can pull more air though them than can filters (of the same physical size) http://www.hydroponics.net/i/133483 $46.50 for an 8"x20"

keep up the good work

cost 28 for everything at mikeals for foam 14 bucks..... at petsmart carbon 10 n a roll of screen 4 bucks lowes

Remember when you hook these up the flexi mylar duct is not light proof. If there is light on the other side of the wall where your intake/exaust is it will shine through the duct. Just something to consider.

I have been doing HVAC for almost ten years now and I find it ridiculous that cost upwards of $50 (for the cartridge alone) when it really only takes a few minutes to build and basically pennies to purchase the materials. I can make 4 filters for about $5 all together (they're disposable and should last about 3-4 weeks being lightweight).
Dont waste money people! DIY
thanks for the rockin post Doc!

How do these sheet replacement filters work compared to the pebble carbon?

Edit* these replacement carbon filter sheets work very well, much easy to work with then the carbon pebbles also.

not to get off subject.... and i do like these filters... they seem nice... i would maybe customize the idea a bit.... maybe a couple of layers of those filters with the carbon dust in between.... thats pretty much what i did on my setup.... all of the vents have those filters cut to the duct size and stuck inside with foil tape... but i have to say that i would recommend the following much more... its a liquid caled ONA. and you can make these little buckets with a fan on the top that disperse the smell really good I have it attached in the inside acting as a second exhaust... it works great.....

you can see on the other exhaust i put coming from the flowering chamber has those carbon filters in the inside ....
