2012 Guerilla Grow -- Fruit Salad Mix in SoCal

Been a while since I posted here. I currently have nine plants in the field right now -- started several months ago using feminized seeds: G13 Labs Blueberry Gum (2 ea), Dutch Passion Strawberry Cough (2 ea), G13 Labs Pineapple Express (1 ea), Paradise Seeds White Berry (1 ea), Breeder's Choice Chocolate Berry (1 ea), DNA Genetics Kushberry (1 ea), and Sagarmatha Seeds Strawberry D-Lite (1 ea). I also have one Barney's Farm Red Cherry Berry which is ready to be upcanned and put in the field (as soon as I can find a good spot for it) and two Black Skull Seeds Pineapple Gum plants (which have only grown slowly, and so will hopefully be ready to be moved out in the next few weeks.

This is my second guerilla grow. Last year I grew a half-dozen plants in 5-gal Roots Organic camo bags. This year I'm trying a variety of different pots and bags (of various sizes) to get a bit of comparison. I lost quite a bit of product last year to worms (although I still harvested about 5 oz. of pretty good buds), so I'm gonna try to be vigilant about treating the flowering plants with BT spray on a regular basis. I've already treated the budding plants at least once this year.

Anyways, here's some pics of how they look at the moment:

Blueberry Gum_1 (in 7-gal EZ Roots pot) (actual volume turns out to be about 5.5 gal)

Strawberry Cough_1 (in 5-gal nursery pot; started flowering beginning of June, for some reason)

Strawberry Cough_2 (in 7-gal black growbag)

Chocolate Berry (in 10-gal RO camo bag)

Pineapple Express (in 7-gal EZ Roots pot)

White Berry (in 5-gal EZ Roots pot) (actual volume about 3.5 gal)

Kushberry (in 10-gal RO camo bag)

Strawberry D-Lite (in 7-gal SquareRoot pot) (basically a square cloth bag that turns out to be fairly round when filled with soil)

I'll try to update weekly with photos. I'm hoping to do better with my outdoor grow this year. We moved into a new house in March, and I expect to be growing in at least some of these spots for the next several years. Rabbits are probably the most common critters that I'll have to worry about...but I haven't lost any plants yet, so I don't think it'll be a big deal. Last year I lost one plant to poachers...but it's almost impossible for any other people to get to this area by foot. I've seen some chopper activity lately that got me a little nervous. I had the plants growing out in the open until I noticed the first chopper -- so I started upcanning and moving them to more hidden spots almost immediately.

Anyways, feel free to comment and/or make suggestions.

Just north of San Diego. Yeah, there's a lot of space like that around here. This area happens to be on the side of a mountain, so it's a bit of of a climb, but not too bad. It's close enough to my house that I can check on my girls daily. Last year I grew further away, so I could only visit maybe once a week.

Thanks for stopping by.

roots organic is the shit! i use a mix of that for all my plants, looking good man, sure your gonna get a sicky harvest! i would really be wary of planes and poachers, just cause the fields behind your girls kinda look a lot diffrent then the lush green of your healthy babes, but im sure you have everything handled, so best of luck and i am looking forward to seeing some harvest result :)

Man, I miss doing outdoor. Plants look so fucking alive outdoors.

The sun does something for plants you just can't get indoors. On the flip though, the indoors produces beautiful stuff you just won't get outdoors.

If I could choose, I would do outdoor anda little nursery indoors. Not happening here.

Hey guys-
Not much new happening here. Finally got the Barney's Red Cherry Berry repotted (into a 7-gal SquareRoot "smartpot") and put in place in the field. Now I only have a Pineapple Gum left to put in place and that'll be it for my 2012 outdoor grow. Eleven plants in all. Got clones of a few and cuttings of some others rooting at the moment.

Sprayed all the girls with BT solution on July 4 (since it was a rare cloudy day here in San Diego county). Been pretty quiet with this grow so far. Some critters sniffing around the mulch on a few of the plants, but no damage...and the bugs haven't been a problem (yet) either. Seven out of eleven plants are officially flowering now. Still not sure why flowering started so early this year. Last year I didn't see any buds until at least the end of July.

Anyhow, here's some updated pics from today.

Strawberry Cough (early flowering plant; been flowering since the last week of May. That's why it hardly has any leaves on it):

Blueberry Gum #1 (in 5-gal EZ Roots "smartpot"):

Red Cherry Berry (in 7-gal SquareRoot "smartpot"; just potted up, soil is still very wet. Hopefully it'll recover once the soil dries out a bit):

Strawberry D-Lite:

Chocolate Berry (only plant growing in straight Roots Organic soil mix; tallest plant I have going now; was looking a little anemic until I gave it a full-strength feeding with PBP Grow):

You're absolutely right, these things stand out like a sore thumb against the native plants surrounding them. Fortunately, it's nearly impossible for anyone else to get to this area by foot. But for sure, I've been a little worried about police choppers. I tried to plant close to the few trees that are around...and to cover my tracks so it's not too obvious from overhead. Hopefully the cops have better things to do with their funds than spending it on fuel for flyovers on my small-time grow...like maybe they could spend it on fighting real crimes, lol.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm looking forward to a good harvest, too!

Yep, I hear ya, Hank. Definitely advantages and disadvantages each way. Outdoor seems like a lot more work to me (with all the hiking...and having to keep it concealed, battling critters, etc), but I never had an indoor space that could accommodate this many plants, of this size. I'm hooked on guerilla growing now...but I'd like to have an indoor space, too. I've got room in our extra garage...but no time right now to set up a grow room. I'll definitely set something up ASAP, cuz growing indoors is a lot of fun, too...and, you're right, buds grown indoors usually come out so much nicer.
