The sour diesel I am growing is actually called sour cream. sour diesel crossed with......... i can't remember. I am in nc. OH, you better get some BT if you don't want those caterpillars tp kill the rest of your plants. good luck
That bud rot sounds like catapillers to me...

That's cool to hear of your SD experience.

It's caterpillars, in a big way. I must have pulled out 40 of them in cleaning/trimming the buds tonight.

It's funny how the Sour Diesel with the most caterpillar problems were the ones that showed sex first, and the ones that appeared finished with magnification.

I'm a little leery about trying to put any treatment on the plants now this late into flowering. This is probably because I've only grown outdoors once without creature problems, and never experienced this problem indoors before.

I'll be watching these babies like a hawk until they're done, so hopefully I can ward those mother's off.

After I cut the buds, I had to make a quick stop at the store. When I came back, and opened the doors, the car just reeked of weed. I had it wrapped in 2 layers of tarp and inside a gym bag...and it was in my trunk!

I'm thinking there are gonna be a lotta dizzy dAzE in the near future for my friends and I.

Well here are the pictures from last night of the trimmed Sour Diesel:

IMG_0004.jpgIMG_0003.jpgIMG_0002.jpgIMG_0005.jpg

Again, I know the pics aren't the best.

I just took the buds and put them in clean glass jars with air-tight seals to cure for a bit in the dark.

I'll probably be checking them every few hours and air them out for a few minutes. They were pretty crispy this morning, yet gooey and bendable in the middle.

I know this isn't the preferred method of drying, but I think few people have the patience and/or time to check their buds every few hours and air them out. It's the weekend, and my alma mater just kicked off...so I'll be here to tend to them.

The bud was just too dank to hang up in the closet. I tried to, and it literally stunk up the entire back half of my house...as good bud should. I didn't buy any Ona, or a deionizer air purifier, as I didn't anticipate harvesting for at least another 2 weeks.

Mother nature has a way of dictating her own pace though, and 3 of the plants were already done by the time I got back.

Looks great man nice work.

I saw in the first post you got your beans from BC Seed King. Have you gone through them before with good results or is this the first time using their gear?

Thanks Sonar. I'm a big fan of your grow this year...I gotta go check it out and see how its doing.

Yep, bought the beaners early this winter, lost 2/3 of them because of deer, until I installed this deer netting: http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Gardener-15464-100-Foot-Netting/dp/B000A286YU

It's the first search result you find when googling Deer Netting. Works exceptional and is easy to use.

Anyway, I was pissed that I lost so many plants because they became deer food, so I bought 15 more Sour Diesel since that's what they chose to noosh.

Ended up with 22 plants when they were transplanted into buckets, 10 were healthy enough and female.

So I had two orders there, both received in a week or less after ordering (live in the southeast). If you pay with cash, they'll give you 5 free seeds per strain selected, but may take a few days later. Their only downside that I see is their selection, but I've mentioned adding a Trainwreck strain to BCSeedKing's lineup (my favorite weed), and they were thinking about it.

I'll probably pick up a few strains for next year from http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/ .

Jack The Ripper (second favorite) and Afghan Kush Ryder Autoflowering look like sure bets for next year.

Yeah I lost a few to predators myself. I throw soap and moth balls around the site which is suppose to work as a repellant. I think it was squirrels or chipmunks or some kind of smaller animal that got mine though. Next year I'm going to try to put out plants that are a little bit bigger.

Yeah the Attitude is awesome man. I've been ordering during their monthly promos for the extra freebies. Usually towards the begining of the month they run it.

Good job man.
how many more plantts to harvest?
Hey thanks!

8 more plants to harvest, although one is probably gonna be really skimping (a G13/Haze) that I experimented with in making feminized seeds. I was overzealous in my application of the Gibberellic Acid and my ratio of - diluted GA:water - was too high.

Five more Sour Diesel are left, three G13/Haze.

at least one Sour Diesel will be harvested on Monday.

The three G13/Haze have become much thicker and defined in the last two weeks since my last post. They won't be ready until October it looks like. That's fine, although it's strange that the Sour Diesel was supposed to finish in mid-October, and the G13/Haze in late September. It'd be cool to finish flowering in the next month, but I'm not gonna hurry the G13/Haze; those Hawaaiin Sativa genes will perk up that G13 stoned feeling when it's fully cured. Really looking forward to that.

The Sour Diesel really does smell like diesel/fuel. Really cool.

I smoked two small bowls at 4 yesterday that gave me a buzz for a while into the night.

I need to re-weigh the nuggets tonight. I'll keep them in the large jars until then.

They look noticeably smaller and drier after leaving them on a cookie sheet in the open air last night, with very good indirect air flow.

Like the revamp thing Attitude did with their website too.

BCSeedking does an amazing job shipping their beans, in a very discreet way. Usually feel better dealing with Canadian seed banks, although I know Nirvana and Attitude have a good rep in delivery/price/quality.

Next year I'm breeding my strains. Gonna stock up on some classic strains and work on regular male/female breeding. Also gonna continue experimenting in making feminized seeds using Gibberellic Acid. Need to experiment and see which ratio of Gibberellic Acid is needed.

Well I harvested two more Sour Diesel's today. It's been dry and they've put a lotta energy into THC production the last two weeks because of it.

Done clipping, just air drying right now, with added circulation via a small desk fan.

The first batch has been curing in jars, and has lost a lot of weight. I'll re-weigh in about an hour and see how far along that first batch is when I air them out.

The remaining 3 Sour Diesel have a few more weeks to go, but they're looking great. No more big fan leaves on the plants, so they look a lot more bare than they did just a few weeks ago.

The remaining 3 G13/Haze have lost most of their big fan leaves also, and the buds are really fattening up.

So excited to try it; big fan of the hybrids when they're Sativa dominant, and G13 is just legendary.

Here are a few curing bud shots, and some shots of the bud I clipped today.

Here are pics, taken a few minutes ago, of the curing buds I harvested on Friday:

IMG_0011.jpgIMG_0012.jpg

It's at 2 1/2 ounces as of right now.

On Saturday, it lost an ounce in weight in a day, yesterday lost about 2/3 an ounce. Today, it lost 1/2 an ounce of weight, so that's 2 + ounces lost in a few days. Buds are becoming more compacted yet feeling gooey still on the inside. Smells just great and it's getting better everyday.

Here are the pics of today's harvested and trimmed (somewhat) buds:

Good to see youre having success! Buds look fresh. Looking forward to seeing the full harvest. keep it up bro
Thanks RDG, things are starting to smell pretty interesting around here.

I wanted to yield at least a pound out of all this, but I might come up a bit short on that goal.

I'm guessing around 12 ounces, hopefully more.

Seems early for harvesting??? Have you got to try any sample smoke yet?
Yes, it's outstanding.

I just need to smoke 1 bowl and I'm high for hours, and I've only had it drying/curing since Friday.

These plants were phenotypes that were just way ahead of the rest in every other growth stage, so it makes sense that they would finish earlier.

I harvest when the plant looks done, not because it's been X amount of weeks since it's been in flowering.

And some strains finish earlier in southern climates I've found; Sour Diesel just must be one of those strains. The G13/Haze still has a ways to go for harvest.

These girls looked very done, top to bottom.

I'll give the buds a weigh-in a little later today, both Friday's and yesterday's harvest.

Congrats man those buds look awesome. Is that a little bit of purple I see? So drying straight in jars is working out for you? That's good to know I might try something similar. Even just the ounce or so from my autos I picked stunk my whole second floor up. Seems like the odor really drops off after a day or two though. Good luck with the rest of the harvest.

Yea I air dry on pans for a day or so, then I move them into jars and take them out every few hours.

The buds aren't huge like they would have been grow in the ground, so they're more manageable to dry like this. It's a little bit more effort, but I don't mind.

The buds I picked yesterday have already lost 2 ounces of water.

Yea, the Sour Diesel is definitely purple in color. Can't wait until they're completely dried and cured to see how they look.

Wish I would have more G13/Haze turn female instead of male this year, but I'm looking forward to seeing how the G13/Haze nugs turnout.
