you guys might know...

  • Had a guy give me a hood/refelctor - was going to go out and buy a ballast and bulb soon

BUT i look inside the fixture you screw the bulb into and it says

    600v
    2000w

..is there such a thing? or is that it's maximum load?

i'm confuzzled and i don't want to buy a 1000 want ballast and bulb; if they will not fit/work correctly.

thanks for any info and help

hoods are universal, meaning you can run w/e sized bulb in it that you have the correct sized ballast for... :)

That is just the max rating of the socket/lamp cord. Most all of the wires in your house are rated to 600 volts.

nice - i had never seen the 2000w before. well that is sweet, so then why are there no 1500w or higher bulbs? heat issues? too big? lol
