2 Weeks No Sprouts

How long before someone should give up on planted seeds that have not sprouted? The seeds were germinated ahead of time and plant about .5" deep in soil with the taproot facing down. Anything one can do to check what's wrong or try to fix it?

i think you maybe over watered it i did that my first few times and the tap root just rotted

If you haven't gotten anything in two weeks I would try some new seeds.
