So I was giving buds a full check up, because theres alot of big colas, so I was checking in between them when I spotted one of the leafs around the bud turning brown. I instantly thought budrot. So I was like shit, so I moved the bud and looked inbetween it and the stem, and I saw tightly spun web. Then I saw that part of the stem going to the cola had been getting chewed up, and was all brown. There was webbing all in between some of the huge colas. I am so pissed. the stem had been chewed up so bad the cola was about to just break, so I cut it off, and am drying it.

Im not sure what to do now, because im pretty sure that if there were spider mites there, then im pretty sure they are going to show up everywhere. Should I just harvest early? I mean tempatures are 85 degrees and they are outside and its really windy, im not even sure how they managed to get on my plants, but of coarse they did. Im so pissed off, I kind of dont even want to grow again im so depressed. Not trying to sound all emo, but its just shitty yakno, you work so hard and everything is going great and then some bugs ruin everything. my purple one is in the same "earthbox" but seems to be untouched. But im thinking they are going to spread all over. Not sure what to do guys : (

could be something other than mites. it may just be that 1 bud. check all plants very close. keep an eye out for those brown leaves. sometimes you just see the dead tips. i got caterpillars BAD last year. i don't know what to do this year. i'm thinking of a bug zapper to kill the moths before they lay eggs in my buds again.

Could be a candidate for mass-bug-murder with a smashed-up chunk of dry ice left to sublime in the well-sealed, darkened grow space. Don't know how big your grow space is, but if you raise the CO2 concentration to 10,000ppm for 15-30 mins, it should whack anything in there that breathes oxygen- including you, so be elsewhere and vent the room fully before going back in.

just woke up and have to go to the dentist. Im still in a pist off mood.

I am growing outdoors... just click my grow journal for pictures. Its in my sign

Yeh I found a worm of some sort inside one of my buds couple weeks ago, had to cut open a bud to get him, but I got him. Couple days ago I found another worm/captapillar on one of my buds, but i got him before he could get in. I wish my plants would just hurry up and finish, so I could harvest now, before those bugs harvest for me.

Jack, that sucks dude but my guess is that it's not mites but worms. You'd know if it was mites - you'd see these little black or reddish dots moving around your leaves, especially the underside. You'd also see little paleish or reddish eggs on the underside of the leaves too.

Well its good that they arent mites though, but bad that its still something. Hopefully its easier to get rid of then mites.

I just got back from the Dentist, got a franactimy, not sure if thats how you spell it, but if hurts so fucking bad, and im swalling pure blood every swallow. Not even sure if I will be able to get out there to check on them today. Im in sucha bad mood now, and I cant even eat anything. : (

Dude, I feel your pain. Not literally, thank God but communially.

I haven't researched the worm problem so I'm not sure you are better off or not. I will tell you that the mites don't "eat" the buds or leaves but they do suck the sap out of the leaves or stems. This eventually weakens the plant and makes it susceptible to disease. Eventually, if unchecked, the mites will suck so much sap that the plant will die.

I'm battling the mites now on my own grow and I just need another week, at most.

when I did my first indoor grow last year, I read somewhere that I should spray the closet good around where the walls meet the floor, with a good bug spray, I used HOME GUARD.
I think someone ought to put this in GROWFAQ to help others prevent what happened to you.
I'd be sick, man, if that happened to my buds.

Once again, I am growing outdoors guys. Thanks for all the advice though, if I ever grow indoors it will be helpfull : )

Well even though im still spittin blood I managed to get out to the plants today. I usually like walking threw the woods, but I havent ate so im in a pissy mood.

Well i spotted some of the leafs that surround the bud turning yellow, so i know there is a problem. Usually this is either budrot, or some sort of worm eating, for me atleast. I checked threw the bud for 5 minutes, and couldnt find any bugs in it, so Im not sure why this leaf would be turning yellow. I know it is common for the fan leafs to turn yellow, and they have been, but the leafs around the bud should not be, and this is the only one doing it, so I know somethings up. I found a big black bug on my plant as well, just hangin out on a leaf, I went to smash him but he jumped away. Its so hard to kill some of these bugs, because they are so quick : (

All trichomes on the bud have turned cloudy on the white widow, so another week or two. The purple is tricky, becuase the trichomes all appear to be amber already, but the ball ontop of the trichome is still cloudy, im guessing the purple bud jsut makes the stalk of the trichome look amber, but its really not.

Well thanks for all the help guys, im just going to have to check on them daily and kill whatever I see on my plants with my fingers, the slow ones that is, the quick ones I will just scare off.

Speaking of which.... you guys think a scare crow would keep bugs away?

Check on my grow journal in my sign for pictures.

thanks guys : )

capture them in jars, speer them with a needle till you have a little totem pole of various dead insects...then just display them near your plants...and watch the lil fuckers scatter...they wont fuck wit you again.

but for real..sorry to here about your oh so shitty day/week...and ya don't give up growin.. just bomb the fuck out of your yard next year...we've got this spray that even kills ticks...keep trien!

it dosen't matter if thereoutside or inside you can still use bug killers and stuff and im another one who knows exactly how you feel i used a spray bottle 1/2 water 1/2 99% rubbing alchohol and sprayed them once mineare outdoor too and the infestation of spider mites was gone use half and half because alchohol dissolves fast but the mites are still eating when the eat the alchohol it dissolves them from the inside out but some strains are super big fucking pussies when it comes to outside no bug mold or frost resistance what so ever like the ones i have now but it is fucking amazing weed though but ya maybe you just have a pussy strain happenen good luck though

Start an indoor grow, you got more options cuz YOU have control, not Momma Nature. Much less chance of bugs and other nasties, rippers and cops. You could start today even, a solo cup with dirt under a flouorescent bulb will get ya goin.

Good Luck to you, I had Mites real bad for 2 grows so I feel ya brotha!

on my first outdoor. worms took over like yours. ,they were everywhere. at harvest, make sure you scope, move around, every single bud to make sure they arent in there. they will eat away your best buds. keep your head up and check under the leaves and inside the colas.

good luck

if it is mites just gather as many lady bugs as possible and let them loose in there.. they feed on them, if it something else i dont know what to do i just started growning my self, and have just been reading as much as possible.

if you're gonna grow outdoors, you gotta fight bugs with bugs. find bugs that eat other bugs and get them to protect your plants. lady bugs are always good to have around.:spew:

Hey, for fear of smoking bugs, i would try "water curing". Now, im pretty much a redneck, so i know when i pick my vegetables from the garden, i soak them in water for about a day and when i go back to them there is usually some ants and other small bugs in them...
Iv water cured before and was very pleased with the results.

:leaf: i just started growing hydro outdoors and im also very worried im gonna have the same problem. what are some ways to prevent this, anyone know?? :leaf:
