2 PG180's or 1 PG400

Ok, so I talked to Ben at HydroponicsHut. I'm wanting to get 2 PG180's because together thats 320 watts full power. But Ben is telling me I would be happier with the larger unit. The PG400 which is 240 watts........ The 2 180's are around the same price as 1 400. So all same chips and more watts of led. No brainer, better results right...... When I asked him that. He just pushed more expensive lights and didn't really answer the question .

So basically, am I correct in my assumption?

2 Pg180's (320 watts) would produce better results than PG400 (240 watts) ... Right.....?

2 single points of light is always better than 1 single point of light.

I don't know anything about the noise level but it sounds to me like you'd benefit more from the 2 lights than the one larger on. If I were in your shoes I'd go for two myself. Trust your instincts.

PS - Love your avatar btw. Goonies never say die!

He was probably pushing the PG400 because they likely do not sell as well as the PG180 and he has more to move. I believe you'd get coverage overall with 2 PG180s as the dimensions of the PG400 is only a few inches more than the smaller light. Also, 2 PG180s is actually cheaper than one PG400 (by $1)!

Well when I bought mine, it also said that it had the "european bearing" fans lol whatever that means............and it was loud as shit/ couldn't use it for my present stealth grow.........Ben has a slightly tarnished rep around here(Cree leds!lol).......happy shopping

On the site it says epistar and bridgelux I think.... I could be wrong

. I heard about the cree thing. I think that was a bunch of bullshit. Supposedly there was going to be and article in high times about it. Then there never was one. Then it as supposed to be on pot tv bbut that never happened either. The person saying all that started the roomer. I dont remember it ever saying cree on the site but I never looked for it either.

He told me te 260 he has been using for clones for te last few years is still running good but that one is loud. So ...

I have a room dedicated. With fans constantly running . I dont think.the fans on the led will.be too bad. Adding to the t5's I changed my veg around to run less lights so im able to use more in flower

I'm not going to tell you my whole experience with ben (long story)........but yeah he had Cree plastered all over his site, got found out(not by that troll/was way before that) and quickly removed all the cree tags.......blamed it on his factory(blah/bs).........IMHO I would shop elsewhere/ had a pretty tough time getting my money back.......

Now im considering maybe the apollo series. But I dont know about ordering from china though..... I read that whole thread. Black dog or advanced are out of my price range. So im kind of limited. Every where. I hear good things abouth the PG panel itself. But the customer service is questionable ... The blackstars are supposedly crap......

If you have 5w diodes. Do you not need as much total watts as you would with 3w diodes?
Good question..........I don't know, but IMO it would still fall under a "watt is a watt" so you don't wanna go under 25w sqft(led) for veg..............let me clarify about "love clw", i don't own any of their products, but I love the build quality(great hq leds) and very effective cooling design(made in the usa!)........I suggest you PM "prezdixie" "okcomputer" "dickkhead" all run 5w diodes and prez/dickk own CLW products........I think that the 100w is a better panel than the 200w due to the removal of half the diodes allowing a cooler running system..........And If you email George at CLW about special pricing, he usually throws in a 10% off code.....it may be worth it............................good luck

Hmmm, not sure but it looks like they've lowered the prices for the Solarflare 200w from my last look at them. Get it down a bit further and they might get another customer :).

Sounds like you have the led bug. It's easy to catch.

Additional HO T5s are a lot less money (and cover more area). As happy as I am with my grow, I think 432 watts is probably 200-400 watts too few. Thinking to add a couple 2 bulb or 4 bulb fixtures as side lighting

I still will rock the T5's. I just plan on doing both. The reason is the led has much higher 660nm peaks. Higher than the flora sun, deep redsun, and gro lux. Also now im dealing with more and more burnt out bulbs. At the wrong time too. So its starting to get costly again. I did email uvl asking about warranty and replacing my redsuns since they burned out in 8 months and did not last the 2 years like they are supposed too. Maybe get 660 redsuns instead.

I emailed cwl and cindly. Then I just read curly's thread on the vipar. That one looks pretty good. I like the free shipping and 90 day trial too on top of the warranty.

Just an fyi.........Cidly runs 90 degree and vipar runs 60 degree lense angles/ your foot print will be half of the CLW panel (120 degree/5w emitters) and it uses glass lenses instead of plastic/pmma/acrylic....which will fade and discolor from heat and uv...........good luck

Wait which ones are glass? The clw? That was a bit confusing. 90 degree penetrates more than 120 right? And 60 even more right? Im not doin sog flood table anymore. Gon back to big plants. So I would want more intensity. Im just covering all my bases. I do not want to regret my purchase. I hate it when that happens .....

The lesser the angle, the greater the penetration. CLW relies on the intensity of the chips (5w) to provide the penetration so they use 120 degrees to also provide coverage.

Yeah the CLW all glass lenses/ledengin emitter's driven to 4w........yes 90 penetrates better than 120 but at a cost(reduced footprint)....the 5w emitters make up for the penetration issues.............

Ok cool thanks.

The veg master seems to have the best spectrum for flower. The bloom master doesnt have enough blue for chlorophyll a, b, and, c.. Plus the blue photons increase oil resin production.
