2 Odor Questions..

i've seen/smelled/smoked from both sides and they both can be skunky/pungent.. You probably dont have much to worry about until last few weeks of flower and during harvest, thats the stinkiest time...
just check out the DIY section of growfaq for DIY carbon filter they are easy to make and all you gotta do is just attach it to your exhaust duct.... if you have one?

nope.. this will be my first grow.. perhaps il drill one.. i really do not want to have odor coming from my closet..

If your growing less than 4 small plants, you should be all right with a common "Glade" plugin freshener. Just mast the smell, and make sure to move the air, even if its just IN the closet.
