2 New Prop 19 Polls

Shit, new ppic poll today show us losing 44 to 49 (showed us winning last month 52 to 43). I think the opposition is getting it's message across louder. We need to organize and get out the vote!!!

I wouldn't worry about it.... 7% undecided and an error margin of 3.5%.... could easily swing the vote in favor of. What kills me is fellow pot smokers are going to vote no....

alot of fellow pot smokers are going to vote no, alot of growers and med patients as well... as well as dispensary owners and there families... they have a real vested interest in this thing not passing... so they will absolutly get out and vote, as compared to maybe some younger folks that will just assume that it will pass, or forget, or not be registered or any other pathetic reason...

lets not forget norcal as well, there are a ton of people up here that are voting no... i dont think they are accounted for either.... shit is gonna be really tight that is for sure... 10 days...

these polls are more reefer madness the recent ppic poll is a joke they didn't even release the statistics of the demographics they polled.

please remember the Broadus Effect when reviewing the polls. People are not telling the truth about how they will vote because of all of the (unnecessary) negative social implications associated with cannabis. Robo polls (where it is automated by a computer) show 19 far ahead, where as person to person polls show a closer margin or 19 behind.

polls showed 215 in a similar way in 1996, yet passed with 56% majority.

if you want to encourage people to vote yes on 19 be vocal. talk to everyone you interact with about 19 and why we need this to pass. when people see that marijuana users are normal people like everyone else the stigma will start to change.
put a sign in your front yard (i will post a pic of ours later today) so all your neighbors can see your support
make a t-shirt with a cardboard stencil and spray paint and where it in crowded public spaces

last weekend the Cypress Hill Smokeout was in my city, the freeway off ramp was jam packed from 2-10pm, we hung a 5 foot white sheet spray painted with "yes on 19" and a big leaf from the fence along the off ramp for all to see. lots of support shown, sign is still up!

on election day i am riding my bike around the city with a yes on 19 banner. join me
this is a grass roots movement, we have to do all we can.

a grass roots movement for a "pro corporation bill" what a crazy world we live in today... just like how this country has went in the last 50 years.... giving the money and the power to just a select few.... you know not what you do my man... see you at the polls... we are having a 75 person smoke out and then all going to the polls together... thats 75 stoners voting no along with just about everyone else I know...

That's unfortunate nathenking. A no vote is a vote to keep the status quo and delay by who knows how many years, the process of legalization across the country and world. I hope before Nov 2 you see the bigger picture and decide with your friends to join the good side of this fight, and vote yes to take a big step toward cannabis legalization.

I too would like to see dopers released from jail. That is not in P19, probably because the authors of 19 thought it would make 19 impossible to pass. I think such a clause would make 19 impossible to pass as well, maybe in 2012, if P19 passes in November, there will be a ballot measure that addresses past injustices. P19 is not perfect, but it is all we have and it is a step in the right direction.

Well, I don't think all polls are garbage, but you are right about the Broadus effect. Better news from last night:

http://justsaynow.firedoglake.com/2...a-stigma-could-be-throwing-off-other-polling/

Anyway, I agree we have to get out the vote. Walking around with signs is a great way to start conversations about it.

I think all the polls are 100% garbage. I think it's passing by much more than any of the polls say. I think no matter what you how polling is done, people are lying in the polls. I think prop 19 passes by 10% more than any of the polls suggest.

Fk yeah! ALL non-violent drug offenders everywhere should be released from jail. People convicted of non-violent hard drug crimes belong in treatment. People convicted of non-violent cannabis related crimes should immediately be released and their records expunged. It doesn't matter if it was a medical bust or simply someone growing/selling illegally. It should not be a crime, they should have never been arrested.

There is a group of congressmen who are going to get started writing a bill to do so if prop 19 passes. Hopefully there will be some sort of petition getting signatures of registered voters to back them up.

probably one the more insightful posts on this topic
the best predictors of the future are from similar historical events, history does repeat itself
still looks like a photo finish in this race, we'll hope it goes the right way
