2 diffent flowers 1 strain

Hello,
Today i heard a weird Story,
i dont know what to think of it.

I got a few New strains.
One is mac1 clone (shuold be capulator cut)
The guy i got it from is growing it right now, he sent me pics from 2plants both mac1 ,
he is safe that both are mac1 (its a clone cut)
, but they buds Look total diffrent .

He toll me that the ohne plant Changes genetik,
she says the plant switched an "changed" pheno

That Sound soooo wrong .
Am i wrong or isnt that possible

Not sure
But here is what i do know
If I take a cut that I have grown for years and give one to a neighbor
The end result can be completely different

Yes for sure or genetic changes over years or stress..
But he has these cuts in 1 Box next to each other at the same time
