A young man was shot and killed over a couple of pounds of trim last week here in our little town, you'd think after legalization here in NV that shit would end but guess not. High retail prices fuel the dark market.
No dude, legalization dont make crime go away, its a drug with dollar value, did you expect us not to shoot just cause you can now buy it in a shop, hell no... shoot you then go rob that shop.

Crime moves in now its not hidden from view...

took what you could get back then, if you knew someone growing, you were lucky, you might get stuff grown from those^seeds, if you found any not crushed. it wasn't any better, but at least it hadn't been smashed flat
^ This. Hell, Back then, a drug deal was always a shady endeavor, especially if your regular dealer was dry. Now, your dealer will call you.

There is still a big difference between cannabis and brewing beer.

I used to brew my own beer. I did whole grain, specialty yeast, custom batches; both lagered and ales. It was very, very, good.

But when I started, the most exotic beer you could find was heineken or labatts. But now, that 7-11 will have trappist beers imported directly from belgium.

And what they sell it for is less than it costs me to make myself. Brewing beer is labot intensive. Sanitation is key. Equipment is specialized. Batches are small (less than 7 gallons unless you really invest in big SS containers). Raw materials are expensive. And you occasionally need to throw out a batch.

So nowadays I just buy what I want to drink. With beer, you don't have to worry a lot about contaminants.

But cannabis is still different. It's easy to grow once you dial in a setup. The raw materials aren't super expensive. The results are rewarding. And in a lot of ways, you can't trust independent producers, especially if you don't know them well.

If it gets to the point where you can buy strains you just can't grow for less than you can grow them, people will stop growing. Once the scientists start speeding up the strain development cycles, they will develop strain profiles you won't have genetics for. Nor will anyone else but them have it.
You are correct. I love making beer and wine. In my basement I have several I keep on tap that I’ve brewed. Your 7-11 must be fancier than mine but I live I northern mi too and they’re all different. Besides I only go there for the slurpees lol. Hell I don’t trust anyone part from being overseas and in the military. But even if the do get it cheap as hell I’ll still grow as I enjoy it. Tomatoes are cheap as hell at the store but still grow those along with my reapers and other super hots lol. On a side note I’m trying to make a brew to mimic brew dogs tactical nuclear penguin.

Geez. Shits getting insane over there.
What a suck for genuine farmers.
Just the big fish moving in, I suppose?

Here in I am in Australia, wishing it was legal.

On a moral note too, lol.
They push prohibition, like cannabis is crack.
Then as soon, as the potential profit is seen, on an industrial scale. They make pot even more accessible, by dropping the price.
I'm not sure I agree, with making cannabis that accessible. It needs to be expensive. It is a drug after all.
I can just see 12yr old kids, getting their older siblings to buy a $2 stick. Instead of a 6pack of alcohol for their friends party.

Imho. Government should be more responsible.
They should impose mandatory prices, for pot. Expensive, and less accessible. But legal in every way.
I'm afraid you have it a bit back-asswards. Charging a lot more for pot than booze makes kids more likely to get someone to buy them alcohol which is a lot more harmful than pot in so many ways. Kids die all the time by alcohol overdoses or misadventure when they get pissed but not a one has died from pot other than falling from high places but they do that anyway. :)

Charging more will never get rid of the black market as our politicians here in Canada state is one of the main reasons to re-legalize pot while increasing prison terms for offenses, stripping more civil liberties and bring us closer to a police state. It's not legalization but Prohibition 2.0 and a worse upgrade than what we have now.

They and the corporate monster Legal Providers are planning on pricing pot in the $10/g area then taxing on top of that. The guy on the corner sells it for $7/g tax free and has other goodies to offer as well. :) No age verification required either.

It's nothing but a big corporate sell-out with most of the big players being ex-politicians and bum buddies of the previous Prime Minister who started this ball rolling and the new dictator keeping it in play.

Nothing is going to change other than your local dope dealer will have a store and if you get caught with pot you didn't buy from a legal store you can still get a criminal record and even go to jail longer than the way it was.

Kids who want pot can get it a lot easier than getting booze and that won't change either.

It's all about the money but they use the lies that have been told for decades to continue to lie to the sheeple and try to keep them compliant.

It's more a herb than a drug and many herbs you can freely buy at any health food store can be way more dangerous than pot if not used correctly.

20 years from now the hysteria will have faded and pot will be just another jar in the cupboard of the common home.

I think you have what I'm saying backwards TBH.

I'm not a drinker. Period. Hate the shit. Hate a hangover the next day.
Marijuana is my drug of choice.
Yes marijuana isn't toxic like alcohol. I'd even argue that it doesn't physically damage your brain, like they say it does.

My concern is for children's education!
I didn't start smoking until I was almost 20.
Grew up as a kid, with parents, that are life long growers, and smokers.
Not smoking until I was over 18, was also the advice, my parents gave me. They told me it wouldn't be good at all, for me to be stoned while doing school.
You know what. Now I'm older, I truly believe them.
I didn't give two shits when I was at school. Smoking pot during school, would have made me care, even less. Study even less. School would definitely have suffered more.

Alcohol you get pissed. You throw up. Have a hangover. But two days later, your mind is clear.

Doesn't matter which drug is better. Or worse. They're both bad for children. To say otherwise is irresponsible.

We need to be educating children, and making it harder for irresponsible kids to access drugs in the first place.

0.8g goes for a Tenner ,in my neck of the wood ,Some do a Gram for a tenner,But they just get Grief from the 0.8 g crew.A oz has been going a lot cheaper than Normal though Gorilla Glue # 4 ,has been moving for 130 on oz ,Pineapple Express 150 oz, Super Silver Haze ,Nevilles Haze 200/220 a oz .Going to move a bit I have spare soon not sure on price Yet ,Super Haze ,and G13 Blueberry Headband ,might do that to friends at 150.It happens every so often where I live large scale grow drops around 2/3 times a year, and prices drop, the Quality is really good of the Gglue ,think they must have also done a load of Lemon Kush, because that's going at 130.In a normal situation I snap some up for that price, but I am all ways funny about these large scale ops, never know what's in it ,Plus they give normal growers a bad name ,leaving the building the rent full of the stuff from the grow ,even lights are left at some ,just Ballast took ,and fans.Years ago we got a black bag full of half decent buds from one ,where they had just took all the tops ,the weight .

A lot of the growers in the legal states out west are getting into selling clones, growing mushrooms, filling carts, squishing and anything else to make a buck.

For growers, the green rush is over. If making money is really what you want to do, sell pots, soil and ferts. No one is going to crash into your warehouse and steal tons of dirt. But if all your income for the year is out back in a greenhouse, who can say what might happen.
What is squishing? Concentrates?
