1x White Whidow under HPS 400w

Hello, i'm Cezar and this is the first time when i'm writting here :D. So hello everybody.
Now i need some little help with my MJ.

5 weeks with 2 CFL = 120w (power consumption 22w)
1 week with HPS = 400w
Before i've put the plant under 400w HPS, i've changed the pot and i also added new soil. I was gentle with her so i didn't damaged the roots. then i've added some water with nutrients.
I'm feeding her with this chemical composition (N - 3,6% ; P2Os - 2,3% ; K2O - 2,7%).
I've started feeding her when she was 3 weeks. First time i've gave her normal concentration after that i've start to increase the ratio up to 5 times the normal. I know, probably this is the answer to my problem but please take a look at my pictures. Now she's 6 weeks. The signs start to appear 1 week ago, 2 days after i've gave her 400w HPS. I've put the lamp at 30 cm from the plant. Today i've increased the distance at 38 cm. She's 41 cm tall. I've got a big fan, and it's not oriented to the plant and i cool my closet every hour: 1 hour on, 1 hour off. The new leaves from the top are growing yellow and started to dry out. The bottom leaves also started to get yellow but they aren't dry, at least, not yet :|.

Thanks.

Going from the small cfl's to an HPS probably shocked her a bit. As for your leaves drying out it's too hot in the room...you want temps around the 75F area...and hummidty around 50-60%, sounds like your plant is suffering from too much heat...plants need a constant breeze on them. Another important thing is ventilation...you need constant flow of air if it's in an enclosed area. An HPS should be at least 18" above the plant, and if you can lower it do so...place your hand ontop of the plant...if the light becomes too hot for your hand it's WAY too hot for the plant...that's a good method to use to see if your lights are too close.

Welcome to RIU...enjoy your stay!:joint::mrgreen:

I will try to increase the distance between the plant and the lamp, but the new leaves, even the little ones, grow already yellow and start to dry(in some areas even burn). The other leaves from the bottom are a little yellow and the rest are pretty fine (very small areas are yellow). How about the nutrient, it's ok to feed them 5x with that chemical combination? Thank you very much.

Looking forward to hear you.

my plant is bad, and i'm afraid the process will continue until i will do something, so please advice me, i've already read the chemical substances chart, including the effects, but this is my first grow so i can't distinguish the true nature of the problem...

thanks in advance, Cezar

With 5x the concentration, does anyone else think it could be due to too many nutrient salts? I'm still a rookie myself, but I've been reading the plant problems section quite a bit in the growfaq.

I'm almost ready to harvest and experiencing a similar issue with the lower leaves turning yellow and falling off. I don't know for certain, but I wonder if it's to do with the soil ph being off?

I'm continuing cu water the plant 2 times a week with no nutrients. Is this ok, or isn't? Please advice me, i don't want my plant to suffer anymore and i don't want her to die. There must be someone who experienced this situation before.
Should i change the soil and wash the roots with water and then should i wait to see if anything gets better? I realy don't know what to do. I don't have pH meter so i can't say exactly what's my pH right now, but the soil it's fine.

Thank you, Cezar

i`m mainly a hydroponicist but have some experience with growing in soil,
i would water every 2 days with a nutrient mixed at the recommended level otherwise to much nute will burn the roots which will show on the leaves as brown scorch marks, then every 2 weeks use just plain water to flush out excessive salt build up, you should allow allow run off when you feed/water (every time) as this will also help reduce salt build up.
your plant`s were looking yellow in the photo`s, lacking chlorophyll which can be brought on by a lack of nitrogen. (so corrective feeding).
as mentioned before enviromental conditiions are vital to get the best out of your plants ( amongst other things) temp around 75f and 50-60 humidity reduced to around 35-50 when in flower phase.
i would invest in a ph meter as the wrong ph will cause nutrient lock out which is like you going on a bread and water diet, hope this helps.
regards.

Thank you for the advices. I will do as you said me to do, but i don-t know how to flush her (what's the tehnique). About the nitrogen lack, should i buy nutrients with more nitrogen? As you saw, now i'm using N - 3,6% ; P2Os - 2,3% ; K2O - 2,7. I've read the forums and i found out that she needs 20-20-20 in veg period and 10-30-10 in flowering phase. If this is correct, then my concentration is way to small and that's why i;ve increased 5x normal. So basic, the concentration will be 16.8 - 10.6 - 11.4 . Is this correct?

Thank you very much.

NO that is not correct. 20-20-20 of one thing is NOT the same as 20-20-20 of another. The numbers are ratio's. Something that says 20-20-20 could be no more potent than something that says 5-5-5. the ratio is exactly the same, 1-1-1
Increasing your nutes to 5X the level WILL kill your plants. Its not a certain number you want its a certain ratio. During veg you want a higher ratio of nitrogen. Like 3-1-1. During flower you want a higher ratio of phosphorus. Like 1-3-1.
Also do NOT water your plants every 2 days as someone said. That would be WAY to much.
Look into adding hydrogen peroxide to your water. 1 -2 TBLSP per gal. It adds extra oxygen to the soil. It will forgive you for overwatering. The roots will love the extra oxygen. Its also good for the soil. Its good for the "friendly" microbes and bad for the "evil" microbes.
Also, if you dont know how to flush, that means you have not read the GROWFAQ. Upper left on you screen right now.
YOU MUST READ THE GROWFAQ!! Everything you need to know is there. Read ALL of it and then read it again. IT will help you so much.
Good luck & Happy growing!

re watering/feed cycles mine was grown in 35 litre containers with my own compost/soil mix the drainage was excellent and the finger test told me when it was dry, your containers/mix might require a different regime.
hydrogen peroxide will give extra oxygen but also i believe it will oxidize all organic material including beneficial microbes.

Hello, I'm back and my plant is doing fine as you can see, but this is still my first grow, so i need some extra advices. When do you think i shoud harvest? Now i gave her only plain water, and i used molasses and nutrients. Why are the buds so small, are they gonna grow more?

subject: White Whidow
source: http://royalqueenseeds.com/?id=32&pr...le=white-widow

Growing - short journal...

Veg period 61 days with hps 400w (24/0 light - 5 weeks with 2 clf [110w both]
- 4 weeks hps 400w)
Flowering 57 days with 12/12 light hps 400w.

She's in 8 week of flowering and i thing the buds are too small. I will attach some pictures taken 1 minute ago and i will wait for your opinion and when do you think i should harvest. Thanks in advance...

PS: The buds are going to get fatter in the last two weeks of development? Now i guess i will have 3 more weeks to go before chop her down.

Why are the buds so small? Is it something wrong with it, there could be a nutrients issue? Thanks.

how much did you yield?

I don't know how much i've harvested (the buds are drying now) but i have some pictures. Tell me what you think. Thanks man!

The last two pictures are from my plant after chop. you can see many small buds. I've tied those branches in order to receive more light and now i guess i'll have to wait for full development. What do you think? And what about the harvest, how much do you think is there?
