Heres a pic update.
They are all doing well. 2 or 3 suffering from stretching which I am trying to curb, unless they are a different strain which could be. A few are ahead of the pack, squatty and bushy. I call them my all-stars. Some of them are smelly and some are not. And some smell different than others. I don't know what that means since it's my first grow and I knew nothing about plants before this. Theres 1 runt thats lagging well behind the others in development. In some of the pictures you may see some residue on the leaves. When I was cutting my vent holes some sawdust got on the leaves and plants so I used a spray bottle with tap water to clean them off. When the water dried that residue remained. I don't think it will harm them will it?

Do you think I will need to re-pot these guys?
Should I take 2 clones from each when they are about 6" tall and flower the clones so I can identify and KILL the males? (Then I would only have to re-pot the fems if I flowered clones for sex)

Another tidbit of info: In my 2 light fixtures there are 2 lights each. 1 6500K daylight and 1 5000K Daylight. For 4 lights total. The plants seem to be favoring the 5000Ks substantially! I have to keep turning them in fact! I forget the ideal spectrum for veg so I am sure this has something to do with it but it's no matter since I am expecting my MH and HPS rigs on friday anyway.

Enjoy the pics!

So today was pretty rad, I feel like I got a lot accomplished. AND I got new toys in the mail!
Today I built a cloning tub with a small plastic container, air pump, and bubble stones. I bought an identical bottom to flip over and use as a clear lid to keep the humidity up too. I also bought cloning powder and some rooter solution to add to my cloning tub. I might try taking 2 clones from each plant tomorrow if I have time so that I may determine plant gender and kill boys.

UPS and FedEX both showed up today!
FDX brought me 2 of the 4 pumps I had ordered for my aero tubs. The other 2 didn't ship because they are on backorder...LAME
UPS brought 1 ea 400w HPS and MH light setups from HTG Supply.
They are the cheap ones, and it shows in the craftsmanship. However, I think they are still far superior to the 4 T12s I had hovering over my plants beforehand. Anyway, they are just to get me through this grow and then it's on to the big time with 2 1000 watters! Then I can use the 400 for moms and clones and the like.
Also I got around to light proofing 2 of my aero tubs with paint. I bought 2 cans of matte and 2 cans of gloss paint both made to spray on plastic. The gloss seemed to go on better.
When I painted the tubs I turned them upside down and put a shop light inside them. Then I painted the tub in the dark, spraying where I could see light glowing through until I could see no more light.

I guess that's it, see pics for details. I'll keep none of you updated on my progress since I don't think anyone really reads this. Ha ha.

Hey thanks man!

Heres a few pics before I go to work. I watered this morning, no nutes though, just h20 w/ a lil peroxide in it. The new MH is WAY hotter than the flouros-DUH. I have a little bit of curling going on but I think I have it under control now. My thermometer reads 78 at the tops of the plants. The 2 smallest plants didnt take the heat well but I guess that seperates the weak from the strong. I cut a few lower branches off of one of my biggest plants and am trying to clone them. I hope it works but I think I need more lightproofing in there for the roots, like on the lid as well. 1 cutting has been in there for 3 days and the other 3 for 1 day. we'll see in about a week I guess...

I'm so eager to flower them but if I can get the cloning down then I'm going to clone for gender like I said before. They have vegged for about a month and I dont want them to get too big before flower but i am considering lollipopping them. We'll see how it goes over the next couple weeks!

Have some pics....

Well, I guess I havent updated in a while so I snapped a few pics before lights off tonight. I'm flippin tired so not much to write. A lot of my lower leaves are dying but overall the plants look OK. I just pick opff the lowers. i am wondering when i should lillopop. The whole cloning thing didnt work. I think in part because light was getting through the lid to where the roots were supposed to form... I'm gonna try in rockwool next i think. I need to order up all my net pots and rockwool and exp clay pellets still. The biggest plant, I call him George Bush is looking sickly these days. Theres a thread in plant problems about it. I think it's overwatering/nute burn? anyway I need to get some ZZzzs so enjoy the pics everyone (no one). Ha
later.

i am sticking to 18 or less inches from the tops of most according to The mari grow bible.... really? if it doesnt hurt your hand then it wont hurt the plants. hmmmmm if that's true i could go WAY closer.

EDIT:

i got the light about 8-10 in away from the tops now. theres not a huge temp difference.

BUT
They are still looking sickly, some of them are, some of them aren't.
I'm wondering what it could be ...STILL
-Have they outgrown their pots and they're sad because of it?
-Are the nutes messin with em? i know MG isn't the best... I have GH on the way though.

Any other ideas? I'll post some pics of the sad ones. (i just watered them)
one is all speckled, one is clawing like a mofo and i noticed that on the majority of them 1 or 2 lower leaves are just drying up, starting at the tips and moving inward. some are droopy. what the crap. i hope these little sluts make it....

also for size comparison i put a 2 liter next to the plants. Do you think they need a re-pot?

yes bigger pots for sure i thought they were bigger they need to be like 2-3 times deeper than they are, also leaves will droop when the lights are off and the leaves spring back when the lights come on.. sure cure for them right now would to just let them dry right out (dont worry its a weed) then give them just water for the next couple waterings (do those pots have holes for drainage.. very important)
when they are dry and you are giving the first drink of water water the soil evenly until the water just starts to seep out the bottom. and not sure what you are doing for nutes but i'd only give nutes every other watering.
just noticed the yellow spots that could be nute burn ,and i noticed that a lot of the perlite is on top of the soil which in my experience happens when you dump all the water right on top of the plant quickly all the perlite rises to the top and you end up with less drainage through your medium

the pic is my setup (until a few days ago) its a 600 watt hps , as you can see i have it within 10 inches of most of the plants but the room is kept at 24c with a fan blowing towards my plants and into the 50 cfm exhaust which allows them to be closer you can see by the pics they are still healthy green

the yellow spots could also be a deficiency (not getting enough of one nute) but i'd let them dry out to see how they respond first.

thanks for the advice. also... awesome pup you have.
i checked the ph and it was way low. like closing in on 4!!!! i havent checked it in a week plus. so i am gonna re-pot with some lime in the new soil i think. my GH nutes should be here today along with all of my other junk for getting my aero set up going. i still have to paint 2 tubs black but i didnt even clone yet so I have some time.

i hope i can level out this dive my pot-jet has gone into.

Well I figured the pots were getting a little small so I went to wally world and bought some bigger ones for just 88 cents each. Also picked up some soil, fish emulsion and perlite to mix in. I also mixed in some garden lime that i bought yesterday.

Shipment from HTG came today with my panda film, rockwool, hydroton, net pots, and GH nutes. All I have to do now is clone these bitches and finish up my last 2 aero setups.

Now that the plants are a little more spaced out...

+Would it behoove me to put my 400w hps over them as well as the current 400 MH?
+Or are they OK just vegging like they are?
+When I flower them will it be a wise idea to use both lights?
(If I didnt already get the 2 1000w HPS)

I'm starving. re potting 11 plants makes a kid hungry.
Have some pics!

So the first try at cloning went down the crapper. Now that my rockwool plugs are in I'm gonna try it again. Some changes from the first time around are:

I light proofed my lid
I sealed the lid to the base with tape.
I am lighting 24/0 instead of 18/6
Cuttings are in rockwool, suspended through the lid in a solution bubble ponic style.

The cuttings are numbered to match their mommies or daddys so that I can flower them and find out gender...

Let's hope it goes better this time.....

cfls should be 2-5 inches away from your plant... they look really unhealthy... and overwaterd maybe even some stretching... start flowering.. get some red light and put cfls all around the plant... do some more research.

i wrote a big long msg then i clicked on a pic and msg was erased so this is the abbreviated one

mh + hps for flowering i cant see the problem with that more light the better and i use fluoros + my hps currently , as long as you can keep the heat down.. since i've kept my area cooler my buds have thrived

Lime pellets - no idea :) my soil has lime in it though ,says its for ph adjustment

the leaves curling downwards could be 3 things in my experience (over water, underwater, heat. i dont think they look underwatered the soil would be crispy so what about heat could you repost the temps in the room and post the size of your pot and how much water exactly you are giving them(the size of your new pots) they do look nice and green though so my guess is just overwatering right now
