Hi guy … I am new here. I never try mushroom before in my entire life but due to many of peoples recommend that I should take one cause it might give me idea or image that deep inside of my mind hallucinate and you know give me some answer or help me with many obstacle that I had been face with . anyway I am thinking to grow myself one and strain that I pick to grow is “Golden teacher” please note that I have no experience to grow any kind of mush room so here I will start my grow journal here from preparation and hopefully to the harvesting process . I will show you guys my growing plan and the way I do it and please feel free to give me lots and lots of advices and thank you for reading this

My preparation Plan Jars and jar lids Well ..it is quite worries me so much due to difficulty to get my hands on canning jars so I decide to use normal regular jars with rubber coat around jar lid . I plan to use this to grow my cake out of it But before I put to sterilize in pressure pot, I will punch a small holes on my jar lids and cover them with medical tape then cover with foil and put them in pot for sterilize.

Cake Compound = This is recipe that I will use for cake compound For 240 ml jar =3/4vermiculite, ¼ brown rice flour, ¼ distill water But I am thinking about pre sterilize all of compound by put each of the in to microware about one minutes before and after mixing and put it in to jars.

Incubation process After I finish injecting spores to jars I will simply put the entire jar in air tight container box which has been clean with rubbing alcohol. Then cover them with garbage bags I am thinking to cover them with two layer of garbage bag with each of the will be seal with rubber band to protect my jars from contamination.

Terrarium I am planning to spate each cake to sets and put in terrarium but the key in this design is I have plan to put O3 generator to purify water and air in my terrarium due to O3 will kill any things in term of airborne and germ . As my diagram and put in to the

Questions 1. Does jar size will affect my mushrooms grow rate and health?. Due to more jar quantity will give more space to put in brown rice and stuff so which mean more nutrition for mycelium to grow? 2. Should I pre sterilize my cake compounds by microwave them for one minute before mixing and after mixing in to the jars, My huge concern is microwave will destroy nutrition value in the cake mix that’s all. 3. During incubation what is the best way to protect contamination and during this process what is better between air tight environment with high humidity or air tight environment with average or normal level of humidity 4.My biggest concern is O3 will kill bacteria and germ that will contaminate my terrarium and water inside my terrarium and I am afraid O3 will harm will Mycelium colonized so what do guys recommend for this in this stage still require a lots of protection from contamination or not and is there any solution that you will suggest to improve my plan and design

Don't use a microwave. If you're going to do this, do it right. While the mycilium is forming in the jars it is very susceptible to contamination so boiling your jars for at least an hour is a must.

Smaller jars are better because they colonize faster. The faster they colonize the less time they have to get contaminated.

After inoculating the jars, cover the tops of them with aluminum foil and that should keep out contaminants.

Don't know about the O3 but again your best bet against contamination is keeping everything super clean.

Check out shroomery.org for more info, everything you'll need to know is there.

um.... no. I suggest you rethink this project from the very start - all you are doing is sizing up PF tech and in so doing amplifying your problems tremendously.

O3 isn't good for mycelium.

Pretty sure Ozone will wreck your mycellium bro. Don't over complicate this too much. While it is a science, it isn't rocket science.I'm going to tell you the same thing they told me right off of the bat; use Rye Berries. They're VERY easy to work with. Also, get yourself the "Let's Grow Mushrooms!" DVD, by Marc R Keith (Rodger Rabbit). This video, while it is sometimes painful to watch, is a VERY good reference for building jars and other misc things for beginners. While, I'm not too far out from a beginner, I did a LOT of research before I started this. Also, I'd recommend three holes, not four. three holes will allow for less chance of contamination. If you're feeling confident that you can keep your work area and jars nice and sterile, consider adding some additives to your substrate, this includes but is not limited to, natural water, bee pollen, flax seed, corn meal, etc. Make sure what you're adding IS NOT harmful to myc before hand though.Instead of using the amazing setup you have there for your terrarium, use large (or small) rubbermaid containers, drill some large holes and stuff the holes with polyfil (synthetic cotton used for stuffing). Also, where do you live that your technology is greater than canning? Your jars are going to be a bitch (might have to break them) to get the myc cake out whole. Sorry for the huge run on paragraph, the forums isn't recognizing breaks right now.

Don't bother with the o3 (at least in THAT step).

I have multiple o3 generators. I use it in shock mode to sterilize pretty much everything I work with, and give my glove wall (some people have boxes, I have a room) a high level during all mask and glove work, plus I keep a low level of o3 at all times in my tub area.

#1: O3 will burn the myc.
#2: O3 being pumped though tubing well destroy all the seals and tubes. It's really good at that. I destroyed a whole bunch of stuff before I realized it was unnecessary.

Too many people see sterile conditions as necessary during fruiting, this is not the case, if you have done everything right, you could fruit in your compost heap outside and do just fine.
