Nice work. Congrats on killing the bagseed clone. It's the right thing to do.

I'm a little concerned; did you dry your harvest before jarring it? It can't go directly into jars or it will mold. Sorry if this is obvious or ignorant, but ...
Thanks shnkrmn. I started cutting last week, I hung dry everything. Didn't take as long as I expected it to, only about 3 days for each plant. It's not very humid here. rH stayed about 50 in my drying space. Put them in jars while they felt dry on the outside and the stems snap/bend but don't break. Have just been opening the mason jars periodically throughout each day based on how dry it feels.

Was really worried I was gonna screw up the drying and cure so I bought the little rH meter that I put inside the mason jar with the bud. From what I have read, I am in the ideal curing zone right now at about 62% rH when the jar is sealed.

Awesome job brother!

That root shot says a lot about your grow, very healthy you did an excellent job, sorry to hear about the bagseed and the herms, I wouldn't grow the seeds either.

I will be looking for your next grow for sure. Thanks for sharing all of this!

You have great plans for the weed you didn't like, hash works out awesome, I like the bubblebag method but to each there own. I made some wax/shatter last night out of some of my trim boy is that shit potent!

Thanks a ton BG, I probably would have given up on posting the journal without your encouragement early on. Appreciate it.

Glad to hear the roots looked good, earlier in the grow I was concerned there was some brownish gunk on sections of the roots, but I guess that was just stuff from all the different micro nutrients like roots excelurator/karma etc..

The dry ice hash method looked so simple and easy that I bought the bags for it. Came in a pack with 3 different filters 220, 110 and like 75 (not sure exactly at the moment). Can I just throw away the trim/bud after I shake the hell out of it with dry ice? Most of the thc is removed so whats leftover would be crappy for cannibutter I imagine?

I've read others prefer the water exctraction. Bubblebag method is similar process with the ice water and freezing the trim first? Haven't looked that one up but heard about it through a friend.

So burnt out being in the basement after the 50 or so hours I spent trimming I just need a break and want the easiest method to get hash primarily for easily making edibles since I didn't really care for smoking hash (prefer the flavor of herb). I understand now why growers finish a cycle and chill for awhile, the last 2 weeks took a lot of effort.

Dry ice is the way to go for a beginner. It requires much less skill and judgement than bubble. The trick is knowing when to stop shaking. I don't keep what's left over, it's not very appetizing looking and I make edibles with the hash, not what's left over after making hash.

Thanks, just finished making the dry ice hash. Used about 2lbs dry ice cracked into golf ball sized pieces. Made one batch using the 220 filter, and one batch with the 75 micron bag. I'd guess it was about 1/4lb of dry bud and trim from the plant I hated. Made a decent amount I guess, this is purely for edibles.

Roughly how much of the dry ice hash do you use per stick of butter when making cannibutter?

Congrats Booort on your first grow. Those pics with your finished product in the jars is flat-out AWESOME. I read all your posts (as I was in the shadows-following your progress) and I can tell you are a technically oriented kind of guy, paying attention to small details. I can tell you graduated from some fine university and you are probably in my age group (early 50's) ;-)

Anyway, I too am on my first grow: 7 plants under 400W HPS in potted soil. All are PURE sativa. I started the 12/12 cycle when they reached 24" on April 6. Those darn plants are now well over 6' tall and refuse to flower! Two weeks ago, I changed to 11/13 to kickstart flowering and still no results. All they want to do is grow and I had to perform some bondage and bending to keep the tops from touching the light itself. So needless to say, I am discouraged. But they are so green and healthy. I also trimmed a good 25% from the bottom to get plant energy into flowers-but still not! Well, I'll just have to have more patience.

I'm looking forward to your next grow journal with all the details.

Thanks lionking77, appreciate you reading this and posting here. You overshot my age by about 10 years and I did graduate eventually :)

I am very interested in a pure sativa, a good friend just got back from Amsterdam and kept raving about the pure sativas over there, particularly Barney's Farm I believe. The 12 weeks flower time seems kind of turns me off a little but I might give them a shot in a few months.

Good luck to you, be great if you started a journal.

After a few weeks of curing in jars this is the final product. The 3 lemon skunks are 3 of the 1/2 gallon mason jars. 2 of them are "bagseed 2", one is "bagseed 1". The smaller mason jars are from the lower portion of the plant that had seeds. Tied to keep the buds seperate that I suspected had seeds.

Opened each jar and just grabbed a small handful of random buds for these pictures (out of pure laziness). The large jars are curing still at 62% rH.

Love the dna lemon skunks, great taste and smooth and potent. One bong and I'm good for awhile. Terrible at giving smoke reports since I think it's all just relative to tolerance.

Don't care for the others much at all but they are decent quality. They do the trick. Bagseed 2 has a fruity aroma, bagseed 1 has a strong pungent sour aroma. All the hash was made from buds of bagseed 1. Probably 1/4lb of dry quality bud trim in ziplock bags in the freezer for cannabutter.

The dry ice hash I am unsure yet what to do with it. I'm interested in making a capsule or pill somehow, but need more research. I've smoked some on top of a bowl and it certainly gets me high when smoking, just don't care for the taste. I made one batch with the 25 micron filter bag, it produced a much blonder color and I'd assume purer. This is the smaller pyrex glass container. Sorry, I can't tell weights since I have to scale.

Starting a new journal for the Devil's Harvest Shoreline and 2 lemon skunk clones.

Really enjoyed looking through your thread. Leaning more and more towards trying dwc. Your results speak for themselves, without taking credit away from you as a grower. A big part of the result is obviously caused by your setup, hard work and dedication. Just wish stuff for hydro was more easy to get hands on here. Especially the nutes, no international brands to buy, so its hard to start as a beginner from scratch. Enjoyed your journal though :)
