i am a first time aerogarden grower, i live in the us and do not have access to seed shops as it is illegal in the US. I was planning on using the seeds that come in one of my regular baggies (not high grade weed). I have an aerogarden pro 200, i wanted to know if this will work and also if i need to germinate the seeds or just put them in the pods. i have never grown before but always wanted to and after reading all the posts i thought the aerogarden would be the easy way to yield a nice size of personal. I would appreciate all the help i can get to accomplish this goal. i would also love to post pics of my process. Thanks

Hey Tbundy81,
Sorry no one answered your questions.....A lot of information including the questions you have asked can be found by reading other posts or the guides on top of the main thread area.
Anyway, to answer your questions, you can either germinate your seeds in a wet paper towel or sow them directly in the grow sponges and place in the AG.
Any Aerogarden model will work to some degree. You will have to make some modifications.
There are a few recommendations I would give to a 1st timer.
#1 go out and buy yourself a grow guide book.....I recommend Jorge Cervantes or Ed Rosenthal's guides.
#2 If you don't already have it, order the master gardeners kit for the Aerogarden, you can order it on their site or ebay. It has the breakaway pods and lots of extra grow sponges and nutrients.
#3 before you place your seed in the grow sponge make sure you cut it in half (like a hotdog bun or book) and place the seed halfway down.
#4 buy the figure 8 cord at radio shack to plug the lights into so that the lights can be on 24hrs during veg.

There are a lot of other tips on here, you just have to do a little research. You can also pm me with any questions.

I myself own an aergarden pro600 elite+ system and I didn't trust the fact the it was designed for vegetable growing at twice the speed and double action on everything so much to the point that it burns all of the leaves on your plants so, what I personally use mine for is seed starter (and no you do not have to germinate them.) PUT THEM IN THE LITTLE POD and put the little dome on and watch it grow. I also use the system for clones it produces root and foliage growth faster than anything I personally have seen yet! good luck on your journey hope I have givin good advice
