Hi!

This is my first post here on the forums, but I must admit I have been reading grow journals etc on here for the last year or so.
My personal growing experience is rather limited, I have only grown once before and it was a somewhat successful outdoor grow at my previously owned property. Since then the property has been sold and I am starting my first indoor attempt. My setup isn't as amazing as some of the ones I see on here but to me it's pretty balls out for my first try. Without further delay ill tell you about my setup and the strains I will be running.

Strains:
1x DNA Kushberry fem
1x DNA OG18 x Skunk reg
1x DNA Sleestack x Skunk reg
1x DNA Kandy Kush X Skunk reg
1x GHS Lemon Skunk fem
1x GHS Great White Shark fem
1x GHS White Rhino fem
1x GHS Trainwreck fem
1x GHS The Cheese fem

Room: 8'x8'x8' basement section with black+white poly.
Lighting: 430w enhanced spectrum hps bulb (+30% blue spec) and 3 2x4' t8 flouros (white/blue spec)
Ventilation: Active Air 6" 400CFM inline fan + SilverStar air cooled hood exhausting outside the room for now. Once they start to stink I will be exhausting out a window and will likely have to get a carbon filter. 12 inch fan on low for intake. oscillating fan for circulation.
Nutrients: General Organics full line by GenHydro, although I will probly only be feeding them once in veg and once in flower, we will have to wait and see.
Grow Medium: ProMix Potting & Seeding +30% Coco Coir for germinating, ProMix HP + 30% Coco Coir for veg + flower
Germinating: 16 hour presoak, then to moist paper towels until taproot shows, then immediately into germinating soil mix in 4inch square pots covered with ziplocks under floros to create a greenhouse effect. Will transplant into 3 or 5 gals havnt decided that yet.

I think thats about it for the setup. I started germinating 1 week ago.

The Kushberry fem is now at day 5 from sprout. the GHS fems were started 2 or 3 days behind and are now at days 2/3 from sprout. I heard the Kushberry grows pretty slow so I figured Id give it a head start. Long story short they are all above ground. The 3 DNA Skunk cross regs were put in water to presoak just last night, as I was tempted to try them and finally gave in lol. Hopefully we see a female from 1 of them and hopefully they catch up to the others. To my excitement I woke up this morning to see the sleestack x skunk already had a taproot after 12 hours so he is in soil, the OG18 x skunk following just a few hours behind. So we should have a 100% germ here just waiting on the Kandy Kush x Skunk.

I will have pics up today at some point.

Feel free to subscribe+post in my journal, thats why I chose to make one. I will need some help at some point im sure. Questions/advice/comments/constructive critisism/pic sharing are all welcome.

Thanks,

Hrmm thats odd, it works if I upload them 1 by 1. Anyways here we are at day 3(day 5 for kushberry) since breaking ground:

1) Seed packages
2) Nutrients
3) Group Shot (top left: Great White Shark, The Cheese, Trainwreck. bottom left: Lemon Skunk, Kushberry, White Rhino, Sleestack x Skunk still in greenhouse waiting for break ground (was germinated ~6 days after kushberry). Just threw that 1 in to show you the greenhouse effect im talking about. other 2 DNA skunks are to the side.
4) Trainwreck underside - wtf purple? Is this just genetics or what? Temps down to 68 at night and up to 80 daytime. Humidity 45 daytime 60 night.

I have to watch how much im watering, as they seem a bit light in color. This also could be due to the 30% coco in my mix which I have never used before, so maybe I am a tad light on nutes in my soil. The pro Mix has starting nutes that last 2 weeks. Im going to let em go another week at least before I give them a light ass feeding if any at all.

Thanks for stopping by hopefully we get a nice crowd going, and hopefully these ladies grow out to some beauties!

Anyone have any idea what that purple under the leaf is? it is happening to the cheese as well just not as much as the trainwreck. Hopefully its not a deficiency of some sort. Did a bit of reading and people said its usually just a genetic trait or low temps. Hope nothing is wrong.

It is rare to see purple so early, but infact many of my plants and other peoples have turned out purple and no damage or effect was done.

I had just finished 2 mother plants which where both purple stem & leaf, I did a clone from one and even the clone started to purple within 2 weeks of veg (currently 10 weeks old now).

You will find that most expirienced growers will say its perfectly normal. :leaf:

Well herro.

It's been a while since I've given an update and for that I apologize. Been busy with work and the power supply on my comp died so it was out of comission for a week.
Things are going good though. They are all still alive + well at day 20 from sprout now. You can see the kushberry fem in my avatar. The 3 DNA Skunk freebies germinated extremely well and are catching up to the others. I did run into a deficiency problem around day 14 from sprout with the kushberry fem and all the Greenhouse fems. This was due to the fact that I used too much coco in my mix, as well as Pro mix seeding soil that was moist and already opened a few months before. Found out the hard way that this left me with hardly any nutes in my soil and i won't feed them liquid ferts when they are that young because Ive mutated a few plants before doing this. So I transplanted them into what i beleive are 3 or 4 gallon pots with fresh Pro-Mix HP, and the new growth is looking quite healthy and they are growing much much faster since the transplant. The roots were looking pretty good when I transplanted. Wish I had of snapped a pic but then again I probly would have dropped one while trying to take a pic lol. I also bought a hps to mh conversion bulb which turns out to be a great investment, had them under it for 1 day before I transplanted to get them used to it, and you could see the difference in color, growth speed, and branches started after just 1 day under it. My friend stopped by with 3 rooted clones of greenhouse bubba kush fems for free, they are looking a little rough but I can hopefully bring them back. It is safe to say that I have way too many plants to properly fit under this 400w so for now I am rotating them every day, and will likely be getting a 1000w for flowering. The 3 DNA skunk crosses could all be male so we will see. My friend says i'll be fine under the 400w if i rotate them every day, the buds just wont be as dense as they could be. and I wont be able to veg them as large as I had hoped. Debating getting the 1000 for flower and saving the better strains like kushberry trainwreck and lemon skunk as mothers under the 400w mh.

Anyways i'm going to go take more pictures after I finish my coffee, so Ill have them up within the hour!

EDIT: camera battery died ill have pics up as soon as it is charged

Sounds good, I would love to see the 1000w getting going on flowering. Achieve dense fAt colas, are you topping or cropping at all?

Well, since I have so many plants under this 400 and im not sure if ill be getting the 1000 this round, as I think Im going to play it safe and get a carbon filter instead, i most likely wont do any topping unless some of them are very sativa and grow taller then the others. Ive got 12 plants so I dont really want them bushing out too much. Next round I wont have as many, I just wasnt very confident at first that they would all survive.

Lights just came on and my batteries are charged so I took pics of all the ladies.
You can see the def i was talking about on the kberry and ghs fems. remember the kberry is at like day 24, the ghs fems are at day 20, and the dna skunk crosses are at day 16 from sprout. im impressed how well the skunk crosses are doing. they are caught up to the ghs fems. i gave the 3 of them a very very light dose of nutes to avoid the defs I got with the others, and so far so good there all green. The pictures should be named correctly and identify the strains for you.

Hopefully I can keep em alive and end up with a healthy harvest:bigjoint:
When do you think I should give them their first 1/4 strength feed? I was thinkin in 1 week or so.

not even joking, this is just 3 days difference on the kushberry fem. you can tell its def the same plant from that yellow mark on the end of the one leaf. i think they are loving the new spectrum of light from this conversion bulb, and also the fresh soil and extra space for roots. its not just the kushberry either they are all taking off and greening up it seems:bigjoint:

ill have a more detailed weekly update this weekend.

Peace:leaf:

PS - she look ok for nutes to you guys? the kushberry is one of the darkest green, but a couple are lighter green and have started to show small yellow spots on the low-mid leaves. in fact you can see one spot on the kushberry there. none of them have been given nutes yet besides whats in the soil (except the 3 dna skunks and kushberry fem, they got a very very light feed). im thinking 1/4 strength next watering even though they are getting darker in this new soil? ProMix says its essential for water and fert sensitive crop to fert 1 week after transplant so Im thinkin thats what I'll do. its not enough to burn them and like I said a couple are showing small defs. ill have more pics this weekend.

Hey everyone,

Time for an update!

its been about 1 month since sprouting and they are doing quite well still under the 400w MH conversion. The trainwreck is really starting to show the sativa growth that ive been told to expect, viney bastard is right. Not sure If I am going to train it or not as it seems like it may bush itself into a nice enough shape although the node spacing is huge. The kushberry fem and og18 x skunk are doing very well. in fact i dont think i could ask for a nicer plant than the og18 is turning out to be. hopefully she is a female!
ive had 2 small issues so far. Ran into thrips this past week but I beleive I have exterminated the bastards, I will likely give them 1 more spray of safers and some neem just to be safe. Also have sticky traps set. They raped a few leaves on the kandy kush but other than that damage was minimal. the second problem is with the kushberry fem and trainwreck fem. The new growth tips are yellow, and slightly burnt and the leaves are cupping inwards. I may have let them dry up too much and they were very close to the bulb at that time so i may have underwatered and a bit of heat stress. After watering and raising the light they seem to be recovering.
my sleestack x skunk plant is perhaps one of the most interesting in terms of growth characteristics. it is self training into a beautiful bush. I must say i am impressed with DNA genetics, especially those freebies they are so goddamn vigorous (remember they were germinated like 1+ week after the kushberry)
I fed them all a very light dose of nutes a few days ago.
anyways, check out the pics they are labeled correctly.

Oh, I almost forgot! I ordered a 1000w and a second SilverStar AC reflector with Eye Hortilux Super Hps bulb.
I am likely going to veg under the 400w for 1-2 more weeks, then depending on how tall the indicas have gotten I will have the 1000w on 12/12 to start the sativas, and the 400w on 18/6 to catch up the indicas.
Id like to end up with 4ft plants. the tallest (trainwreck) is currently 14 inches. some of the indicas are only like 8.

feel free to comment!:leaf:

Edit - look at the pic of the cheese (2nd last pic), do you see that rust colored spot on the one fan leaf? wtf is that? residue from the safer's insecticide?

Looking good! I am currently 3 weeks flowering with the Kushberries...vegged for about 5 weeks or so..they are taller than my white widows! They were very short during veg..

I am using a 400w MH for veg/HPS flower...light is around 7 inches from the tops.

Hey there, thanks for joining!
The Kushberry is looking like a very very nice strain so far I must say. I'm very glad that you mentioned the height thing. I had heard that they stay short but assumed that they meant through flowering and not just veg. If you hadn't of mentioned that I would have vegged them to 2-3 ft lol. This is good though because my trainwreck is definately going to be a stretchy grower I can tell, and i didnt want him to be that one plant out of 10 thats double the size of the others.

If you don't mind me asking, how tall were your Kushberries when you initiated 12/12 and how tall are they now at week 3?

Thanks!

They stayed relatively short until 1 week before I started flowering. I topped one KB about 30 days from sprouting because she was about 12 inches tall compared to the other KBs that were about 9 inches tall. I topped her in order to keep an even canopy.

Once I hit flowering, another KB shot up..causing me to tie her down exactly 1 week into flowering. They are a bit over 2 feet tall...but without the training they would be over 2.5+ fee tall! One of the KB's did not stretch as much...

You can see the KBs in the front 8 days before I switched to 12 / 12

Here they are now:

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to post a quick update. Unfortunately my camera has been lent to someone on a trip to Panama, so I won't have pics until next weekend.

Everything is going great though, I just transplanted the trainwreck and kushberry this morning and their root systems were looking quite filled in, and healthy/white too. There wasn't much soil left just roots, so they should have another growth spurt in this last week of veg. The only issue I have atm is that the trainwreck, kushberry, sleestackxskunk, and og18xskunk are all about 2ft tall, twice the size of the other plants. Ive also had a bit of minor stretching due to the lack of lighting for this many plants. I busted out my 3 2x4' flourescent fixtures and have all the shorter ladies under them until the new light gets here.
My sleestackxskunk is continuing to self-train itself into a perfectly even canopy of 7 tops. 3 branches on each side and the main top. I am going to be very disappointed if it is a male. So far, though, the only plant exhibiting the typical sparse growth of a male is the kandy kushxskunk. So I might be looking at 10 females this batch.

I have a 1000w hps on the way, hopefully have it by wednesday. I will see how well it lights all the plants. If it doesn't get down to the shorter ladies I will put them under the 400 and run it beside the 1000. Probly not going to extend the veg period of the shorter plants simply because of the power bill spike that would result. I am hoping the 1000 will be enough for all of them, in which case ill be switching to 12/12 next weekend most likely.

Pics next weekend.:weed:

Hi everyone,

Got my camera back so I have some pics for you! They aren't the greatest though because it is simply too much of a jungle to move them around. I tried to get individual pics of the nicer plants to show you node spacing etc for anyone interested but ya...ill take nicer pics when they start budding.

Everything is still going fairly well, had a second wave of thrips attack my younger plants that had not been treated with neem oil/safer's 3in1. Think I got them taken care of, I will likely do one last application next weekend hopefully no pistils yet as I know safer's can damage young buds.

Today is day 1 of 12/12 and they are chillin under the new 1000w with Eye Hortilux bulb. Definately getting alot larger light coverage with the 1000. Temps are a bit higher now hitting 27(80-85) but I am able to crack open my window and have my intake pulling in half cold winter air, half room temp air, which keeps the temps at 26 at the glass, 24.5 at the pots. PH has been adjusted to 6.3 throughout the grow. They will get their first flowering nutes next weekend.

I have no idea what to expect in terms of yield, I'm new to indoor and these strains. But the trainwreck, og18xskunk, and kushberry are looking like they are going to be 3.5-4 foot tall and quite bushy so hopefully enough to last me till next harvest.

Pics are named to show you which strain is which. Let me know what you think.
Happy Growing:leaf:

put a video of my grow up on youtube

pretty ghetto clip right now, but it will be part of what I hope to be a decent video that will be completed after harvest. I just watered them and they are still getting used to the 1000w so they are looking a tad droopy, not to worry though they should recover within the week.
