1st Grow with a few ?'s

Ok so these are like 2 or 3 weeks old, I forgot but my question is how they look, and if I need to add more lights.

Lighting so far is 2 42 watt 6500k CFL's and 4 16 watt 6500k CFL's.
I water them every 3 to 4 days, whenever I remember most of the time.
I have a fan blowing on medium speed on them at all times.
They are planted in 2 gallons pots, 2 of the pots soil mixtures is some regular old potting soil(no nutes) mixed with perlite, and the other pots soil mixtures is potting soil(no nuts) mixed with perlie and sand.

Looks like you have got the idea, that should be plenty of light for now but add some of the soft white compacts later on. Hard to tell from the pic but the light looks really close to the plants careful not to burn them I usually keep a couple of inches away with the CFL's
 
Looks like u may have already burned em a tiny bit but it's hard to tell from the pic. They look small as well, here's mine at 15days 15days.jpg
 
yeah, they look burnt in the pics on the tips, but there not. i really dont no y there growing so slow, its just some bagseed, so maybe bad genes?
I really need to go to the store and buy a temp guage and a ph tester.

Ohh and should i switch the lights to 18/6, becuase its been on 24.
 
Mine was a bagseed too. Thermometer/hygrometer and the ph kit are probobly some of ur most important tools when growin, get them asap. U need to know the ph of all the food and water that goes into the plant, and adjust it as needed as well. Otherwise, chances are down the road, u'll run into ph problems.
 
well i'll go run out and get one in a lil while, does walmart or homedepot sell them.
and also i used bottled spring water shouldnt the ph of that be neutral?

If your looking to save money you can use the kits they sell at walmart for fish tanks to measure ph for now.

Although you can order a cheap ph & tds/ppm meter from www.htgsupply.com .

You can make due without those meters. If you know whats going into your plants you will be fine. Just don't over due it!

Bottled spring water? Goto walmart and buy yourself a few gallons of distilled water. It's 74cents a gallon there! Or they sell a box with 3 gallons in it sometimes for $2.
 
i have no more money to spend on growing so i can not afford a ph tester do any of u no if the water from the big blue bottles that are like 4 gallons or something the big blue bottles of water for a water pureafier is that water good for plants? i usally let it sit in a water bottle for 2 nights be for use would this water work?

No way for us to know how that water was treated. Thats why we said use distilled water. We all know this water has a neutral ph (7). Although not perfect it's the best water you can buy and use without messing with it. Well let me rephrase. It's the best cheap water you can buy. Cause you can buy RO water from fish stores, but it's usually about $2 a gallon =O

A ph & tds meter isn't a necessity. Just dont go crazy with nutes, and use water you know isn't insane.

I started my first grow using water out of a brita filter and it worked fine. Just got annoying filling the brita so I switched to distilled water.

you can get a acurite clock with both temp & humidity readings on them for under $30. mine has a remote to check temp in a second area. at walmart. i keep the sensor in my grow box the main unit tells me the room temp the sensor tells me the box temp. you can find them in the clock section you should check the ph of the spring water its not always nutral

do u really need nutes for a plant to survive or grow until flowering or until it gets buds i dont have nutes or transportantion to get nutes althought i might pick some up tomorrow anyone no a GOOD,CHEAP name brand for nutes avaible at walmart? (closest store)
 
I looked this up on google and looked around the forums for like 2 weeks, still never figured out what nutes are, isnt that a lizard or some shit?

Just for it to survive, no u don't absolutely need the nutes, but imo, in order for the plant to actually thrive and produce to it's max potential, u do need them. I don't know about wal marts selection of foods, just stay away from the miricle grow.
 
You May not need a ph meter I have Been growing for years and have never bought one. You might have chlorine problem. Allow you tap water to it out without a cover for at least two days before you water your plants
