Just put them in a seperate room, or outside if possible. I mean, if it's just to play with, keep the males for that too. Top them, fim them, LST them, try different nute combo's, try not watering for an extra day or 2. Whatever you can imagine, thats what they are there for you to do. And pollen is usually best taken from known good genetics. But it's all up to you! Good luck man, and keep it up.

Don't use half drinking. Just R/O. Make BE SURE your pHing your water proper. It's very important. And if your going to use any water from the city (tap water) let it sit, in an open container to evap the chlorine.

Rhizotonic is for roots, I've never used it, but i'm not sure your supposed to be sparying them with it. If it says on the container to spray them, go for it. Either way, be careful. Once a plant is about 2 weeks or 3 weeks into budding (the buds are 1/4 inch in diameter (roughly)) then no more spraying. What your doing when you spray is bringing up humidity, and foliar feeding. But certain things are better then others for that.
Otherwise, plants look good. The bagseed looks kinda stretched. How close do you have your light to them all?

Well we have been using distilled water when we can get it, and drinking water when we have nothing else. What do you recommend that is cheap and easy to access?

Rhizotonic has done what it said it would do nothing spectacular, and after the plants start budding we would never spray them haha. I'm really looking forward to buying Roots Excelurator, an Enzyme, and some additives maybe?

My hand is perfectly comfortable under the light... so I think im going to lower the lights to as low as I can safely have it without burning my hands.

Yes, 8-12 inches, wouldn't get much closer then that. Do so at your own risk. ;-)

And as far as water. I got a 5 gallon jug at walmart (Literally called Pimplastic. And fill it up at the water dispensers outside ANY store. They are almost ALL Reverse Osmosis water. Then you have to pH it. You need to get some drops. Pool pH kits WON'T do it cause they dont cover enough of the spectrum. You can either order online, or go to a hydro shop for this one. Along with it, you need pH Up and pH Down. They will allow you to properly pH your water AFTER you've added nutes. Also, you should be adding nutes every 1 in 3 waterings or so. And any nutes from a hydro shop will do, ask them there. I use FloraDuo, Part of the Flora series, but it's really new, you might want to go with something else. There are MANY to choose from.
And you know understand the N/P/K thing? The 3 numbers on the nute bottles?

+rep to you sir! Very good advice you've been giving throughout this whole thread. You're lucky ClosetCoco to have someone like dajosh following your grow. Listen to everything he is WILLINg to tell you about bud. Also great stuff so far Coco. Can't wait for those bomb genetics to come in and see what you can really do. Great stuff!

Hehe, thanks man! Yeah, I don't really know why I decided to take such an interest. Prob because I just happened upon his grow when he FIRST started it. And don't ask me why, anytime ANYONE has asked my any questions, I've tried to give any info I had. I suppose I just enjoy helping people. It gives you such a sense of accomplishment when you grow your own medication, or even just your own recreational. It's so rewarding to do it RIGHT, and to enjoy the fruits of your labors.

No problem man. It's good to have people like you on RIU. If it wasn't for people like you we would all suffer lol. I can't wait to reward myself with my own buds. Even if it doesn't turn out to medicinal quality I'll be happy to say, "I'm smoking what I grew!" Good stuff man. I'll be subbing up to your grow too. Looks great!

well the awesome thing about canna is, their base nutes are ph neutral. so as long as out water is balanced we dont really have to worry too much. i got the ph drops from my hydro store, but i want to get a digital in the next two days. i just cant decide which one. yeah we went inside our local grocery and got a bunch of R/o water from the machiene. it was like .30cents for a gallon of it. i usually mix half that witha nother half of tap water that has been sitting out. since i am growing in coco, i have to use nutes everytime. coco it totally inert and with out nutes, there is nothing for the plant to use. i noticed spotting the day after i tried water with out nutes. i know they are 3 of the 15 basic things a plant needs. i think canna pk 13/14 raises the nitrogen and potassium levels really high for better flowers (?)

i owe him a bowl or two as well ;)

so bad news guys. one of the fem iced grapefruit (the same one that came back from the dead?) just shriveled up and died. weirdest thing. it wasnt close to a light, infact it was furthest from the light and the leaves turn to powder when i touch them! no idea why or how this happened.... oh well.. still have the other fem iced grapefruit

You don't need much N in flower, but you do need P, which actually stands for Phosphorus, is a very important part of flowering. Once flowering they need a nice big dose of it. Don't OVER do it, but...you get the idea. (Is high, i'll prob go into greater detail later :-P)

I'm actually growing a seed myself that I found in a bag, BUT, remember this, if you found only a couple, that means the strain hermied at the last second and threw off a couple seeds. Those seeds are 100% female, called Feminized. Some people swear by feminized, although alot of the ones you buy from seedbanks are CREATED by intentionally stressing the plant. Vs the bagseed you have, which is an accidental hermie. Since these strains weren't supposed to hermie and did, they're more prone to it, and have the hermie genetic train more present in it's DNA. It's very rare, but it has been recorded that a couple of males have been born from fems, but I couldn't cite anything off the top of my head. Whatever you plant will be female, but it's important you not stress the plant at all! The more stress it gets, the more likely it is to her and pollinate your whole crop.
