1st Grow - Afghan Kush

Misguided Angel
Hey guys. Just about to start my first grow on my own. Have doen quite a few with buddys and such but time to branch out on my own. I chose Afghan Kush, does anyone have any experience with it as to difficulty? I will be growing in soil under a 400W MH/HPS set up. Using Canna Nutrients: Terra Vega, Terra Flores, PK13-14, Cannazym and Rhizotonic. I am just waiting for my seeds and I am ready to rock (they are just waiting to clear Canadian cutoms) Any pointers or tips are much appreciated!

are you doing regular or femized?

Feminized. Not sure how much I am going to start out with at once. I ordered 12. I will be growing in a walk in wardrobe closet about 8 ft L x 4 ft W. I am thinking about starting with 4-6 depending on germination I guess.

that's what I figured I must be the only one who bought the regular ones:) Ive seen some grow journals with the fem AK they do well.

i will post some pics for sure once I get going, depending on Canada Customs anyways. Regular seeds aren't bad, just a bit more work in my opinion. I just hope the germination rate is good on them. I paid $185 Canadian for 12 Fem seeds, damn I'm in the wrong business...

BUMP....

and I also just started growing WOS Afghan Kush, as well as SAG AK8, and DEL La Diva. I have a total of 7 seeds germinating right now.

Was wondering how yours were doing as I see we will be right along one another as far as timing.

And as far as my background, for anyone wondering, been growing a lil over a year n a half. This will be my fourth grow. I was an active member of CannabisHQ for awhile..They shut down.... looking for a new "canna-forum" family.

I have begun my grow. Started germinating 4 AK seeds on Feb 25 with the paper towel method. They sprouted and were planted Feb 27 in their first pots under 24 hour fluorescent light. The first one popped through the top of the soil Feb 28, and as of today all have popped through and have opened up looking very healthy so far. Probably at about three inches in height. Keeping the soil moist. I will post some pics soon.

Sounds good...ive been growing for a bit...i prolly wont post unless something unexpectedly goes wrong or when theres something to see.... 3 inches already seems a little tall..is it stretching? Still 1st sets of leaves?

3 inches was probably wishful thinking on my part... Probably about 2 inches. They are a week and a bit old now and are getting their second set of leaves. The first set of leaves are looking nice and green. I will post some pics as soon as I can. They are still sitting about an inch under my fluoro.

Sounds good.. well im at 12 days. nothing too major.. all plants look well... prolly wont take pics until end of third week as 6 of my 7 plants are autos and should start flowering..

Put my 4 girls under the 400W MH last night and started 18/6. Got more leaves starting. Plants are still doing great, gave them a little taste of nutes (less than 1/4 strength) rhizotonic and terra vega. Will post pics soon. Not a whole lot going on yet so I decided to wait to post them.

I got a couple afghan seeds also just started. Want to compare some pics

ive decided to keep a mildy updated grow journal online here.... feel free to check out what ive posted so far...including pics...

I grew Afghan Kush once. Not hard to grow, but they take a bit longer to finish up. Prolly 9 or 10 weeks of flowering. No problems feeding it, but I tend to UNDERfeed anyway. The plant itself grew like a bush and the budsites were extremely close together. Reminded me of the old Tai stick we used to get in the late 70's, early 80's. Just do yourself a favor and make sure you dry the buds good before curing or you'll have a mess with the mold growing on them. Because they are so close to each other, the inside's don't dry out as quickly as the outside's of the buds. Here are some pics of mine. The last pic is the AK on the left and a Mazar on the right. You can see how the Mazar grew it's big buds mostly on the tops, and the Kush buds cover the branches from end to end. Better than average yields.
