1st DWC, 2nd Grow- Great strains!

Hey guys 2nd timer here, first to the DWC world. Im using hydroton pebbles and 4 inch baskets in a rubbermaid tote. I bought a fountain pump however havnt figured how to hook it up right yet. The 8 way valves seem to be leaking and it only seems i have enough pressure to do a drip irragation off it..

None the less here are the pics, let me know what you think or any tips..

Im running a 175MH for 20 days 24hours a day. And they are this big as of now. When should i start flowering and should i do 18/6 at all??I have a 430watt hydrofarm HPS however I think that will be killer on the energy bill, I spent around 250 a month on the 175mh light for only 12/12 flowering last time
 
16 views, no responses?? what gives, my lil aerogarden got way more attention than this big tote does!!
 
nice, i'm doing the same thing basically only a bunch of flouro's for veg and a 400 hortilux HPS for flower, i just made my own dwc bucket with a 16 gallon rubbermade and 6 net pots. just germinated the purple kush seeds and put them in the 1in rockwool cubes. What nutes u using?
 
yes it is see through, im either going to wrap it in something or paint it:/
Im using General hydro 3 part floramicro,gro and bloom then added flora nectar and calmag to the mix this time.

This is my frist time on this setup, anymore tips/ help would be much appreciated.

No one curious as to what the strains are yet?

you will want to block that light out as soon as possible, if they start dying it will end up stressing them out.:cuss: the plants look pretty good. what strain?
 
Looking pretty good. If you replace the clear tote with an opaque one, get one that's deeper. Your rez will stay cooler longer.

Also, you said you used the 175 mh to flower your last grow? The mh is the wrong kelvin light spectrum for flowering. The mh is best for veg and hps for flowering. You'll see a big differnece in the light change from the last grow.

Ya everyone says HPS is way better for flowering but ive been hearing arguments that the last 2 weeks MH would produce more THC.
Im going to ducktape that sucker up and probally make another res to have a perpetual garden setup.

The strains are.. Blueberry X Cheese, Purple Urkle, Lavander, The Purps, Bubba Kush.

How much higher should i grow them before i switch to 12/12??

Just threw them under the 430HPS light 3 days ago, Light cycle has been 20/4 due to some new research I found suggesting higher yeilds.. Now as of today im starting 12/12. Any tips from anyone?
Id like to get as much bud off each plant as possible because I only have 1 of each strain. Would topping now grow 2 or 4 main buds? or is it too late? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated..

Also anyone have experience with the General hydroponics 3 part system? Im wondering if I can use more nutes than they suggest during the flowering cycle for better results. I dont think they test MJ on their nutes and think MJ can sustain higher amounts of nutes than say tomatoes or other plants. Can I slowly bump up the ratio adding say like 5ml each part until they start to slightly yellow?
 
:bigjoint: looking good. i switched mine from cfls to the 400w, kept 18/6 for 3 days. just to get them used to the extra sunshine:lol: did 12/12 on sat. you might want to look into a deeper res. give those roots some room, they will grow much faster. the air stones will work better and the water will stay cooler.:mrgreen: good luck, i will keep watching.

Honestly I need some help from you guys. I just started flowering them two days ago, first time with this light and I think I started flowering them way to small!!!

I have been handwatering these guys with a cup since the beginning, I need to find a permanent solution to get nutrients up to the growing medium..

I wanted to have misters but I have no idea how to set it up. I have a 140GPH fountain pump but it dosnt work, the only thing I can see that pump doing is just top feeding them, which im not opposed to either..


I think for a month under a 175MH 24hours a day they dont look as good as they could. Maybe im being harsh on myself but what can I say, im picky!

Any help is greatly appreciated!
 
they look fine. i only have 2 10" air stones and a 60gal air pump for each res. i have not watered the hydroton in weeks. when the roots get in the water, thats all you need. plenty of water, ph 5.8, and your nutes.:mrgreen:
 
would more constant watering of the rockwool in the hydroton make the plants healthier or bigger?

And is there any training I can do to maximize my yeilds? Last time I took a clone and bent the stalk to the side for fun, threw it into flower and got two lil nice nugs outa it

i used a aqua farm drip system. it has a constant drip of water 24/7. i had a root problem. not enough space. it did not do any better than a regular dwc. my friend grew the same strain as me, and had better result. check this out for training:bigjoint:https://www.rollitup.org/6834-how-lst-low-stress-training.html
 
Is it too late to train now that I started flowering??

And it seems that my roots didnt grow as big as they could have, probally due to the clear resivour I was using.
 
get some ac duct tape. its cheap and cuts out all light. when i took mine out of the small res, the roots were longer than the plants are tall.:bigjoint:

Your roots determine the size and health of your plant. Bigger plants need big root systems.
 
im aware of that now. The guy at my local dispensary recomended some mycrocor..something or other to help establish good roots.

What do you guys think is best to run in the DWC? SOG? Let the plants just grow like I did or what?

Im trying to figure out a way I can get a few different strains of good smoke out this thing and utalize my light space for a huge yeild! SOG seems to good too be true almost and exactly what im looking for.. But then again, why dont I see everyone else doing it then?
